Re: HELP I'M NEW!!!!! AND YOUNG!!!! thats right i'm 14

One of the biggest affiliates in one of my programs is now 15 and was 14 when I met him on a forum. He is now a good producer. Age means absolutely nothing in affiliate marketing. What it boils down to is writing good quality content for your site/blogs and building out as much of it as you can as quickly as you can. Product reviews are great ways of getting search rankings. Coupon code sites do well also. There are many possible niches to go into, but like others have said you should focus. Perhaps something you already know about and can write quality articles that people will read and the search engines will like too.

Nick

First of all take a look at Open Source Web Design - Download free web design templates. where you can get FREE website templates and css stylesheets.

Decide if you are going to use Microsoft Frontpage or Dreamweaver (prefer the latter) to adjust the supplied templates.

Learn how to use these very useful website creation tools.

Acquire a domain name and look at suitable webhosting (again use the forum search facilities for useful tips) and take your time to build a content rich site.

Then start looking at ways to monetise the website.

Thanks for the advice John. there are two main problems with your plan firstly knowledge i have dreamweaver and tried using it but just soooo complicated. Secondly I'm on a tight budget what i want to do is get a website up and running and earn some money (hopefully) and then i will invest in my own website and domain so i can really get into it all. So for now I'm going to stick to the way I'm going to stick to the path I'm already on. But will think about your advice later on in my AM career

thanks to you all

Nick

Nick,

Welcome to the forums. I admire your determination and thoughts and it is refreshing to hear a 14 year old in 2008 with an entreprenurial streak in them.

If you work hard and keep focused, there is nothing stopping you making it in this industry. Affiliate marketing can be very very rewarding and make you lots of money from the comfort of your own home. If you stick around here and read and learn and try to absorb everything you can, you will make it.

John offers some good advice and I admire your determination so much that as a incentive to make a success of yourself and keep you motivated, I will personally buy you any .co.uk domain you like and host it on my server for you for FREE if you read up and learn a bit about dreamweaver and understand a bit more about how affiliate marketing works.

If I had your trail of thought when I was 14, I would be retired by now and very rich !

Good luck and my offer is 100% genuine

Cheers
Frank

Frank that's an excellent offer for our new affiliate. Now if the organisers of the major exhibitions for the Summer are reading this thread, maybe they can pass a ticket his way.

Dreamweaver can be a bit hard to get your head around but trust me it is definitely worth learning. Good luck Nick. I am sure you will do very well over time.

Sounds like a version of the Affiliate Marketing School run by teenagers . You'd need to keep a very close eye on what they were doing. Why not just start a blog network and share the revenue with your teenage bloggers?

Where to start, where to start...

Actually, given Nick is only 14, that puts him at 5 years old when we were founded.

Nick, UK Affiliates was the first affiliate network in the UK back in 1999 and rebranded under the Deal Group Media moniker (aka DGM) when we started looking beyond the affiliate marketing biz. We've added a search business and a display network since then and are still going strong as the grandaddys (though don't call us doddery!) of the UK affiliate marketing scene.

We have Australian, Indian and Asia Pac operations and are one of the biggest UK affiliate networks. The UK operations were recently involved in a UK management buy-out in December 2007 and we have some of the UK's biggest brands on board, a position we are looking to grow in 2008.

You may find the odd person or two floating around the forum that has at one point worked for dgm.

In case any further introductions are needed, Lee McCoy (also of the a4u parish) publishes a decent blog on affiliate marketing and did a reasonably recent 'meet the team' write up on us:

Affiliate Marketing Blog: Meet The Network: dgm

I'll leave you to do further homework on us.

If you drop me a line I'll see about getting you set up with your namesakes...

Ben

MS Frontpage has been superceded by MS Expression Web which is so much better and certainly on a par with Dreamweaver. My personal preference is now MS Expression Web for what it's worth.

Its worth spending some time learning some 'basic' coding, even if you are using Wordpress. An excellent source of material is at W3Schools Online Web Tutorials
