nobody's done this before?
I'm looking for a service provider who lets me send through their server from a remote application (an application on another machine) so basically I don't want to export a list from my database then upoad it into their website to send everytime as I'm guess is how normal bulk email services work.
I'm looking for a service that I can connect to in my application where it connects to some IP/web address and sends this way.
Anyone seen anything like this?
nobody's done this before?
Don't know how to explain this but :
If you sign up to a hosting company with a domain you are issued a unique identifier (username and password).
In your local software such as outlook you would then input this information including SMTP path in order for you to send mail.
Does this answer your question?
If not, i'll explain clearer... The above is "an application on another machine" as you put it. So all you need is a hosting company that allows you access to an SMTP feed.
TIP : Don't abuse it as the company will have the rights to terminate the account.
Hi yes that's exatly what I need a bulk email smtp hosting company so my application can send mail through their host. I've been searching google but can't seem to find anyone that offers this service
I use Silverpop... Or there are people like Lyris...
I think this is the sevice you are after?

I've used this program quite a lot which has a built-in SMTP server so it doesn't place any load on your host or ISP: MailList King: E-mail mailing list management software. Manage your email list from your desktop! (Non AFF)
Works well enough and has some good features.
