Has something been added which has added dotted underlines under some words? If I write am or seo they will probably be dotted underlined, but it doesn't link to anywhere. Maybe it is planned to link to some sort of glossary but just seems pointless at the moment if it doesn't link anywhere - plus I'm not too keen on links in posts to anywhere unless they are added by the poster.

It'd be great if the profiles worked.

Since the last changes they don't.

Compare the info in your My Profile to what someone else can view and it's completely different. The data isn't the same and anything previously added is omitted.

Wow - That's Clever - if you hover your mouse over the underlined text you get a tooltip with the definition - I wonder if it works with any initials?

Just would like to echo the call for the "forum quick jump" - ive been on some sites where this is done as a DHTML style "pull down" - i think it is sitepoint - where you mouse over and it animates open a DIV with a nice grid layout of all the forums to pick from.

Another idea is a "My Favorite Forums" - so that people could customize a list of say 5-10 low level forums that they frequent - and have those accessible quickly via a pull down.

The improvements look great in firefox. Shame nothing works in IE6.

The page layout isn't aligned and width isn't sufficient for the content and most images do not display (none in blogs etc). Page is too small in Events for the content in IE6.

    Hi Chris,

Ok, this seems the place to put this. I've been thinking of removing this forum from my list because....

It seems I have to login on each visit. Not sure if this is just me, or the system, but it seems a membership auto login cookie is not being set, as it is on other forums.

Then, once I login, (which is easy, the fields are prefilled) I'm taken to some control panel thingy. Don't wanna be there! :-)

So, I get a thread update notice, login, wind up in the control panel, and then have to go hunting for the thread.

Not a big deal really, but it does tend to limit my participation. For what it may be worth.

Other than that, the place looks great, and you've done a good job building the community.

    Best of luck!

Quick update on developmental goings on...

The profiles are a bit disjointed at the moment due to the way that everyone essentially has two profiles, one for the forum and one for the main site. We are aware that this is an area that needs work and will be working on this once the current development section (the Events page) is finished.

I had a quick look into this and unfortunately this seems to be a feature of the sitepoint software (a heavily customised vBulletin install) rather than being a plugin for vBulletin itself. There is a forum jump at the bottom of every page at the moment in the form of an HTML select box but this feature is something we will look into some time in the near future.

This has been the major change the last couple of weeks and I think I've almost perfected it - complete IE6 support You wouldn't believe how difficult it is getting 32-bit transparent PNGs to work (which account for ~80% of the graphics on the feeds page), especially when they are in style sheets but I came up with a rather elaborate method using a php-preparser that seems to do the job (if you look at the source in IE6 you will see that every stylesheet has the url "/system/css/pngFix.php?stylesheetname.css").

As you signed up recently your account flag is set to "new user" which by default will always take you to the "Edit Profile" page when you first login. If you fill in the details on that page and save them your account will be changed to "complete user" and the site will stop insisting you go to the Control Panel page every time

Hope this brings everyone up to speed

I have not been around the forum for several months but I see a lot of changes for the better. You are definitely setting a standard in Forum Management.

The login for the main page has never worked. I'm permanently logged into the forum fine but I go to the home page, nothing. Always been like that, so I don't visit the home page very often. (Just clicked the Wiki page for the first time ever and it remembers me, so the wiki page is doing something the home page isn't).

Some of the the home page content on the forum page - this would improve cross-content as I only really visit the forum.

The marketplace sounds good, a facility for people to rank people would be great too.

I think a newbies section would be good so new people have one central place to get their questions answered when they probably won't use the search function and therefore cut down multiple 'Can I earn £1million per day' type threads, plus a review my website type place for getting feedback.

fyi - I never look at the linkback and similar threads thing at the bottom.

This forum is great though, I'm on it everyday and find it impossibly useful, so thanks.
