Email Capture Advice and Software

Hi Guys,

Forgive me is this has been dealt with before on here. We have a website (Poker events, corporate poker, home poker, poker dealers) and I want to start capturing the email addresses of first time visitors.

Does anybody know of good email capture software packages out there?
Can anybody give me examples of sites that have good email capture?

What we are looking for is a package that we can add to our website that pops up or slides over the page. Does anybody have advice on this. Is it considered too intrusive these days? Is there an automatic number of clicks when the pop up box should appear? What typical would be the sign-up rates on these? (I know the offer needs to be compelling)

I`ve always found that the best way to get user emails is to actually offer them something in exchange.

It could be an entry into a competition, or more successfull would be some useful information - for your site a basic guide to poker, or winning strategys etc.

Nowadays people are a lot more careful about who they hand their email address to, because of the amount of spam they get. If you offer them something though, you'll get a lot more success with email collection.
