  PR4 domain not in use. Any advice?

Hey,

Thought I'd throw this one out there to see what you all thought.

I have a PR4 domain that's currently parked on sedo just sat there doing nothing. Gets around 2k uniques a month but earns peanuts through sedo's parked domains options.

It's a made up domain name (no keywords etc) so doesn't lend itself to any particular products.

Was wondering if it's best to develop into a random site and see what happens or redirect to an existing site and hopefully pass on some of that link juice?

I've had offers in the region of 300 but i've turned them all down as I feel it's worth much more.

What would you do?

Cheers
Paul

Try parking it with namedrive and analysing the stats so you can see what people are looking for on the "search" function

Then monetise a site around the most searched for keywords and it should convert quite well as it is targetted

If you need any more help / advice pm or email me

How come it's getting 2k visitors per month? Do you have any keyword info?
I'd look to see how visitors are arriving - intention/keywords etc and then go from there.

(smingle beat me to it!)

Why not put some topical text / banners on the page and see if you can pick some business up that way. For example ..

May - Bank Holiday stuff .. theme park tickets
June - Father's Day
July - Summer .. clothes, holidays
Aug - Summer Sale

etc.

What keywords are driving the traffic?

Thanks, i'll switch to name drive and see what comes up.

From what I can see all traffic is arriving from existing organic back links.

link:domain.co.uk results

google.co.uk = 10
yahoo.com =1200

Whats the name of the site?...

Its not whytravellite.com is it because that was a PR4 and I let the domain expire. Someone bought it last week and put an Seo page on it.

Paul,

The best thing to do in this case is to get a site on there asap, as if all the traffic is coming from exisiting backlinks and the site owners realise that there is not site and it is only a "parked" page, they may remove the backlink. This will have a detremental effect on both your page rank and traffic will just dribble away.

I would do this :-

1. Check out the old site on archive.org to see what the original site was.

2. Check the backlinks and anchor text to give further idea on the type of things people are expecting to see on the site.

3. Build a small 1-2 page website which is totally relevant to what the original website was, and this will help with your conversion rate and sales.

You may be sitting on something which could be making a fair bit of money every month from natural backlinks etc

Good luck and as I said earlier, if you need anything else feel free to email me
