Hey all.
I just wondered - do many affiliates with content sites bother geo-targeting ads?
My business interest is to see if people with Aussie traffic would be interested in directing stuff to Aussie advertisers (hence monetising them, rather than wasting that traffic) but generally I bet a lot of sites attract traffic from all over the world and don't really utilise it.
So do you geo-target ads on your site at all? I'm sure most people at least geo-target their PPC ads (but you'd be surprised the people who still show their ads to me out here in Australia - just wasting their money or their CTR's - how difficult can it be to set target to UK/Europe?) but I still see plenty of irrelevant banners on sites
Do you think it's worth the bother? I'm thinking a lot of blogs etc must get plenty of US traffic - do you monetise that? Has anyone had any success with getting US sites/networks to show their UK advertising to UK eyeballs? (Proper agency word, that!)
Thoughts appreciated, as to whether you think it's something we in the industry should be doing as a matter of course - does the reward warrant the effort?
