Google ad clicked every 2 mins

Could do with a quick answer to this.

Some tw*t is clicking on one of my google ads every few mins, so far they have clicked it 37 times in a little over 3 hours.

What can I do about this? is there any way of tracing this person? My stat counter stats tell me it is somebody on tiscali, xx-xxx-xx-xxx.dynamic.dsl.as9105.com (Tiscali Uk Ltd), but where do I go from there?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Si.

Capture the I.P and inform Adwords by email, you will normally find they have already found the issue and will adjust your fees.

Thanks for your reply Lee. I have informed adwords and added the ip address to my IP exclusion list. That seems to have stopped this joker from seeing and then clicking my ads.

Cheers,
Si.

The 'joker' will still see your ads and will still be able to click on them. The only difference is that he/she/it cannot reach your web page which means that the clicks won't show in your logs.

Sorry, I don't think I was clear enough in my last post. I have added the ip address to my Adwords IP Exclusion list, not my site's.

It appears to have done the trick anyway, either that or he/she has got bored.

Cheers,
Si.

You shouldn't have to concern yourself with this, google trumpeted the fact, whilst I was at the studying stage, that they could identify click fraud and stop it so you should have no worries about them taking your money on spurious activity like this.

Hate petty idiots who think that trying to take out of one mans pocket equates to putting it into their own - MUGS!!

My pal who identified one of these muppetes and done a bit of homework, after identifying his competitors busiest time of the day he used a program called back street browser to download his whole site - the effect being that the drain on the server meant that his normal day to day traffic couldnt get through. As a tit 4 tat, I thought it was a classic - good while ago now though so don't know if it would be relevant for you.

Hope you nail the to'#er though - it's such a petty move on their part.

Good luck

Isn't a DDoS attack illegal? Anyway, I think you would need more that 1 pc to make it work.

Re: Google ad clicked every 2 mins

is quite ironic that click dicks don't realise they are boosting your CTR if adwords doesn't discount it so if it's running at a cheap cpc I personally would just think an nice thanks to them for boosting my CTR skywards

Can't say as I have much faith in the adwords quality control team, we had an issue with their ads on dealtime,

we had dire ROI on an keyword that just exploded, they told us that 60,000 impressions resulting in 17,000 clicks costing $11,000 dollars was all legit, despite the fact that google as a whole delivered less than 500 clicks over 6 months previously.

They expected us to believe that dealtime had suddenly found 60,000 genuine users in 5 days on a very specific term.

Needless to say after strapping on the size 12's to get them to take another look, which took 4 months to undertake, they agreed it was click fraud and refunded in full.

So I'd say report EVERY instance of what you suspect is click pimpery to them, don't just assume they have removed dodgy clicks, check you own site stats against your click count in google and if in doubt complain with plenty of details.

Make sure you record the gclid too, it helps a lot when submitting click fraud reports. Usually though they will catch excessive clicks, but if you're not watching too, then they might just ignore it.

I'd see if you can get him to click your adsense ads instead.

Just a thought...

Aff.
