Recommend a simple gif creator?

Hi all

Could anyone recommend a really basic gif creator for making buttons, etc.
I have a technically challenged client with a wordpress site, and they want to make their own graphics.

On the latest issue of .Net magazines coverdisk (think its 177), theres a program called "Web Button Maker Deluxe" which I think should do exactly what you want.
