Do you have access to the folder itself? If so, you need to find footer.php which is in wp-content/themes/default (or whatever theme you're using)
and then paste it beforeHTML Code:</body>
Hey everyone
I'm trying to use Google analytics but have run into a few problems. I want to use it with wordpress and not sure if i can just copy and paste the java script into the edit code part of the page and if so what will i have to do to make sure it works. It says something about putting it straight before the "Body" (can't put it in its code format) of the code on each page i want ot track but i can't find this.I was also worried that if i wanted to take it away i may screw stuff up or can i just delete the script from the code. Another option is to use wordpress' own stats plugin but it needs a API key and I'm not sure what this is and i can't find it anywhere on my dashboard (edit page) of the site. It is all css though dose that matter lol
Some help would be great lol.

I use this plugin : OraTransplant » Ultimate Google Analytics plugin for WordPress
It allows some clever stuff like tracking outbound links but I mainly use it because I'm too lazy to add the tracking code by hand.
I use statcounter.
Just paste the code into a text widget, works great
You want to be using this plugin for Wordpress: Google Analytics for WordPress - Yoast - Tweaking Websites
You can use the latest GA tracking code which allows the tracking of outbound links (which this plugin does automatically), track adsense clicks and a whole load of other things.
yeah the script should go in, just put it in ya template, before the close body tag the idea being that this is the last thing that loads and so only registers if the whole page has loaded - ie a valid hit. edit: weird thing happen if i try to put the body tag in, someone not escaping their html correctly?!
I think we may have all missed the point of his question because it is all explained at the analytics site
