  Adwords landing page tool

Hi Everybody,

We are thinking of a new tool for PPC affiliates to track and get real keyword information from Adwords. We are running some tests in Adwords. We like to first redirect the user to our display url first (get referrer info), than frame redirect to a affiliate link. Is it against Adwords tc? We are running some tests in a test account, but Adwords disapproves the ads saying that it is "inaccurate display url) Do you think we can do this without breaking the TC of Adwords?

Example:

Ad Title
Description Line 1
Description Line 2
Display URL (ourdomain.com)
Destination URL (ourdomain.com/affiliatename.htm)

In our destination URL, we will get the referer info and then frame redirect user to affiliatedomain.com

Thanks

  Re: Adwords landing page tool

I think its probably the frame that Googles objecting to.

One of the problems with your idea is having your domain as the display domain, as I don't think many affiliates would be happy with this.

The problem comes in that there is such a small amount of text in the advert, that the domain is treated as part of the text by visitors. Having a domain closely matching the keywords being searched can play a bit part in the success of the ad, as the users are much more likely to click on it. Keywords in the domain are also displayed in bold, drawing users eyes to the advert.

By having your domain in there, you're going to be losing this advantage, so i`m not sure if many affiliates would sign up to it.

I`m not sure if its possible as i`ve never tried it, but I wonder if you have the affiliate add some javascript on their page which calls a script on your server, and getting the keyword info through that in a similar way to Google Analytics (although obviously Google Analytics gets "insider info", but its something to look into).

May sound like a silly question but I presume you've tried the Adwords-Reports-Search Query Reports and found that lacking in detail ?

  Re: Adwords landing page tool

Have I read the original post correctly.

- I can't imagine an affiliate would want all of his keyword data going to a third party.

- If you have your own display URL you would only able to have one user using the tool for that particular keyword/phrase.

-The display url to meet adwords requirements needs to be the final page after all redirects.

Seems like a non starter to me.

I would have thought a script and database that can be hosted on the affiliates own webspace would be more appropiate.

Just my Friday morning thoughts.
