Re: New Prepaid Card Comparison Site launched

Very nice site - though odd that you don't seem to have any of the big players on it such as 360Money, Tuxedo etc but I guess that will come in time.

One thing I would lose though if I were you is the 'featured card' - FSA are very picky about these things and I think they would argue that having a 'featured card' is giving advice.....which is a sticky wicket...

Is it still good practice to have lots on links in the footer of the page?

Thanks for that. We did actually seek some advice about what we could and could not do especially with regards to what we could not definitely do!

I think we are ok with the disclaimer in place and the knowledge that the featured card of the month is really more like an enhanced promotional listing and nothing more.

Though I will get some of my legal eagle regulatory friends to have a look again. Thanks

Don't know about that but it's a question we debated internally as well and I am hoping someone out there has the answer to that one.

It is actually more of a listing of card programmes and if the likes of moneysupermarket can do it, i thought it might be on the level but it would be great to see if a couple of SEO guru's can comment on this one.

We have refrained from using it throughout the site esepcially because I wasn't totally comfortable with it but still seeking advice here.. thanks

Well if you believe the stats being put out there by MasterCard, Visa, the prepaid card issuers and some of the research agencies like PSE consulting, you'd better hop on straight away!

I think there is a fair bit to do with regards to consumer education so it won't happen overnight but B2B2C is the way to go we reckon and thats where we see the explosion coming. Google trends seems to suggest that search volume for prepaid cards search terms (non-mobile) is also rising rapidly.....

so the answer is YES

Hi Jess,
Did not understand that? Do you mean that it should simpler and explain the cards better?

Not sure what you mean by "You do xyz they do ABC".

Thanks

Ash

I believe it's going to be big for 3 reasons...

1) There are a lot of cards out there which are getting away with charging very high rates - that means that there is opportunity for many more market entrants

2) The credit crunch doesn't look as if it is going away - these cards help people to budget more

3) There are other uses for prepaid cards like ordering cards in foreign currency like Euros or US Dollars - I know of at least one company which offers excellent exchange rates!

Prepaid365,

From testing over the past couple of years it is my opinion that links in the footer section are deemed to have a lesser value by search engines compared with links in a sidebar - but they do still have some value as long as if there aren't too many links and they are relevant.
Feel free to PM me for my SEO credentials

I'll take your word for it but at this stage we will retain the links as the site ranking seems to be rising rapidly and our Google expert is relatively pleased with his work.... erm..which means I will probably seek your advice on this shortly

Cheers

Ash
