Exclamation Is html really that hard lol (i may regret this)

So i decided to take a break to my usual reading blogs and working on my site and look into design. I would say that at my age I've done a fair bit of website design (not much reaches the web but still makes me feel good). This week just got told i got 90% in my ict exam (building a website) in relation to the fact that the next highest mark was 76% i was quite happy. So i know how to design a website (for my age) always having ideas for new designs and reasons to spend afternoons at school sitting in the ict lab working on publisher (i know its about as bad as you can get for web design all they have lol).

Skip the first paragraph if you want to miss my pointless banter!!!

enough of me well not quite. So i was off sick on thursday and opened Dream weaver to try and see if i had any hope of understanding it lol. I downloaded a free template and started to see what was what then ventured to the code page OMG i said what the f*** is all this. I didn't have a clue what all that HTML was but clicked on code/design button and to my amazement within five minutes was happily working out what it all meant even started to see what i could change (this excluded my 15 minute errrr how do i change the colors then realizing i needed to use photoshop lol but that's a different story entirely best kept a secret).

Now is it just me or dose anyone else find that HTML is actually based on a very simple format you just need to not think of it as a load of symbols and letters but more like reading the book from the last page to the front you have to work out the idea in a completely different way but once you got it it always sticks there.

So if you want to leave any thoughts or comments or tips on how you learn or learnt HTML please do so it all helps not just me but anyone lol.
Or just ignore either way I'm happy dunno y though.

Your pointless and irritating little forum kid

Well... when i was 15, i found html very intruiging and dabbled a bit but i found it hard to concentrate or it to sink in totally. CSS , which leads on after was completely and utterly baffling

BUT

stick with it, and it does start to fall in and then click.... its there, you can read it like it was english and realise it isnt hard at all. Even CSS becomes more or less second nature, and fun... some may think its boring as heck but i now love it.

So all in all, as you get older things that you find baffling do become so so much easier to understand. If i found it as easy now as i did when i was 14, 15-16 i would of gone into webdesign.

If i were you, I'd concentrate on mastering the English language first and then , perhaps, html?

HTML is pretty simple in its self, it has a limited set of commands, and should be fairly easy to pickup.

With Dreamweaver it makes it even easier, as if you're a beginner you can do some Ok sites without really touching the HTML.

Learn HTML first which shouldn't take too long to master, and then you can learn CSS which is more difficult but produces much nicer results.

HTML and CSS are just part of the equation though. Loads of people learn the basics of HTML and CSS and call themselves a designer, but theres more to it than that. Creating a usable visitor and SE friendly site takes a lot more than just knowing the code.

Seriously though I find it just like learning a spoken language myself, or learning fast touch speeds or morse. No more tricky than anything like that. Once you've got the jist, as you say, it becomes a second nature.

Myself, I started dabbling in websites only 18 months ago and have never used dreamweaver. Any html or php edits and changes just get done in notepad or off the cuff (don't say it shows ), and within a few minutes I get what I'm after - if not a quick search will soon throw up some code I can make sense of and adapt to my uses.

How is that at all helpful to this thread, what was the point in posting that?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Html is easy enough to do but good html like tbp mentions is where you take it to the next level just try not to pick up on any bad habits, i would also recommend XHTML instead of html as it's becoming more the standard today - it's just more well formed.

css becomes an amazing tool when your designing tableless designs, (tables should be used for holding data only) where you can change the whole look of your website simply by editing the css.

I learned proper xhtml & css around 18months ago, i now have alot of design clients and it's added an extra income stream to my business, learning skills just increases the possibilities.

Simply, his journey through life will be somewhat easier if he is able to communicate with his fellow humans by communicating in a common language.

I know it's hip and trendy to communicate in illegible and indiscernible language (aka:text speak) but it does become rather annoying after a while.

By the way: Do you know what a comma is?
