  Red face Affiliate tools

As a break from the affiliate sites I'm working on and as a thank you for the help and advice I've had from everybody, I'm looking at writing a tool to benefit any affiliates out there. I'm experienced in PHP, MySQL, Javascript and CSS and wondered if anyone had any idea of timesavers (we-based) you could do with?

I was thinking of some sort of web site where you could set up an account and enter your affiliate ID's and it would automatically update your databases with the products you needed.

But if anyone has any other ideas I'd be up for a challenge?

It sounds like you are describing a service like PopShops or GoldenCAN? Or maybe something like Datafeed Studio?

I'm looking seriously for a more complex solution, which I've tried to describe at http://www.markwelch.com/datafeed-pr...2008-07-01.pdf

That's a very big project to be honest. I was looking for ideas for smaller projects which I would do and give away free for smaller affiliates such as a easy to use product feeds or a tool to view all your commissions in one place.

What about a an easy way to enlarge or reduce the size of images without needing any software? I've recently written a piece of sftware in PHP to do this. I could create a small web site, allow to upload images and it will automatically reduce/enlrager them for you and perhaps email them back to you automatically?

Any other ideas on what woul dbe a good tool for new or established affiliates alike?

That's spooky it's exactly how my script works!

Are well back to the drawing board I suppose.

Quick thought on your stock checker idea. I could develop a script which would take your affilate link and read in the resulting web page - scrape the content for any sign of stock availablility and return whether the product was in stock or not? What do you think?

I was thinking more along the lines of a web service where affiliates add a link to their web site with their affiliate link as a parameter and I would return either text or a graphic to say whether the product was in stock or not. This would allow any affiliate (such as beginners like me) to have stock checking built into their web site from the word go without any hassle and without having to install scripts.

What do you think?
