The US law courts have decreed that Google have to supply the IP address and details of *every* person who has watched a You Tube clip after Viacom took Google to court about royalty and rights issues.
Blimey - how can erase evidence that I actually watched the Numa Numa song once!
Don't know how true it is, but the judge supposedly said the following:
Quote:
In response to Google's claim that providing the data would be too difficult, Judge Stanton said: "While the Logging database is large, all of its contents can be copied on to a few 'over-the-shelf' four-terabyte hard drives."
Its possible isnt it - if they have to start paying royalties on clips lifted from movies, tv, concerts, sports etc, then they would need to either charge a subscription or raise revenues somehow to cover this.
Well I thought you tube might go down the pan on this one so I thought they'd need a bit of lube to shaft everyone who uses the sites as you can bet that anyone who uploaded said copyright material since the creation of youtube will now get prosecution letters. Ended up doing a search for a combination of the two and ended up on a site of risque you tubers.
Just DON'T click on lubetube.com (very adult - but some quite good vids )
