Look & Feel, Architecture & Gremlin Chase...

Hi Pete,

I am brand new here at the Affiliates4u but I'm looking forward to meet all the interesting people that hangs around inside the Forum.

The look & feel of this forum is already in my top 5 Forum Designs , now I am looking to check its architecture and start chasing some gremlins I might spot during the day.

Congratulations for rising the bar on how a Forum should look & feel and hopefully as you update the Forum, all the valuable input by the community will improve its architecture and functionality as well.

All the Best,
Peter

P.S That top 5 comes from a deep list of 32 Forums...yep I've done my homework!

re: Affiliates4u V3 - Help us kill the bugs & add new features

My bookmark for the forums is :

http://www.affiliates4u.com/forums/search.php?do=getnew

When I login here it goes via :

affiliates4u

And then fails to log me in, asking me :

Trouble Logging In?

At this point a re-type my login and password, and it lets me in...

p.s. is there any way to turn of the automatic thing of removing URLs and displaying text for the links?

The alert box is annoying guys. I don't really see the point of it to be honest.

Also, There's no way to scroll down it or move it so I can't tell if there is an option at the bottom to turn it off.

Can you add this option, so I can turn it off. Forever.

I appreciate your efforts in making things better so sorry for moaning.

Cheers!
Matt

Ditto here; the login popup is annoying, it extends below my screen so I can't see it all, I can't dismiss system alerts from it and the only thing I can do is close the entire popup, but every time I login I get the same warnings. What's the point?

Also, it's directing me to the home page when I login; before you logged in and it would take you to whatever page you were trying to get to.

ie I try to reply to a post, it tells me I need to login, I login, it leaves me on the home page and I have to navigate back to the forum topic I was looking at in order to post. Arrrggh!!!

Cheers

Ben

I've made a quick change to the alert box so that it will now scroll with the page so you should be able to see the whole thing, I was aware when I implemented it that having it constantly popping up might annoy some people but it should also encourage people to deal with the alerts as once they are gone the box doesn't pop up any more. I'm going to be refining the alert system more in the coming couple of weeks and will be looking into the possibility of a system to disable it until next new alert but for now if you just clear whats there it won't pop up any more. I've also reversed the login script change I made so it should act as before.

Have you tested this in firefox because it doesn't seem to be scrolling here? And maybe I am being stupid, but how do you clear the alerts?

Firefox is our first point of development Then we go through and add IE hacks everywhere. Trying doing Ctrl+F5 to do a forced refresh, you might have the old style sheet cached. Each of the alerts are cleared in different ways, for example for System Alerts there is a "Clear System Alerts" link in bold or for unread inbox messages simply mark the message as read
