Can anyone recommend a good link building company, preferably one they have used and know to be reliable, ethical and honest?

You'd be surprised at the cost most agencies would ask for. SO do shop around, some general tips:-
Watch what you get:- Keep a VERY close eye on what links you are getting.Generally you would not want to be associated with:- Duplicate IPs,Link-farms (web pages with just links),Porn pages, lot of PR0 pages.
Dictate Terms:- You have to know what type of links you are after. A good mix of PR1-PR5 is a good practice and an odd PR6 would be great. Also, stress for links on relevant pages.

Any agency painting all link-building projects with the same brush should raise eyebrows.
Simply because different websites have different link requirements. Okay, some of the backlinks coming from directories can be same for a lot of sites but outside those links , I would want to see relevant links based on site's target audience and market.
And relevant link building takes time and EFFORT.

Happy to show the cross section of backlinks that I have linking back to my site.

to all the sceptics type "gray hair shampoo" into google and see where my site is. This is one of anchor texts I used in the 3way network.

We are not here to ridicule you here GMARWICK.
I noticed a couple of interesting things within the link list you have posted:

A lot of PR0 links and a few .NET and.INFO.

Now, when you have called us skeptics, let us give my side of facts why your link building is spammy ( may be without your common knowledge)-
1)High number of duplicate IPs in the backlinks,
2)90% of anchor text from backlinks say 'gray hair shampoo',
3) On Yahoo Site Explorer backlink checking, most backlinks were marked spammy, and a lot of Keyword stuffed page and Anchor text spam.

I wouldn't even go into any detail about the relevancy and thematic appropriateness side.

The site is no 1 for 'gray hair shampoo', but its going the right way for a spam penalty.
If you are good at taking advices, clean the site up, or , earn as much as you can now and be prepared to dump it when the inevitable happens.<
