Hello - i'm new to all this and i'm thinking of starting an affiliate site - specifically a debt consolidation affiliate as I've heard these can be quite lucrative if you get them right.

My question is how do you go about creating content for you site, plus some debt-related sites have 'Consumer Credit Licence' and 'Data Protection Licence' details on the footer - what are these and do I need them?

    Thanks for your help.

Firstly, I think a number of licenses are only needed if you are considering data collection, I'm not a financial buff but I think the guys at The Affiliate Marketing School - Home may be able to answer your questions better, they deal a lot with the financial side of affiliate marketing and data collection. If you are just considering sending visitors to a merchant then no licenses will be needed, only by the people collecting the data will need it.

You could start with a blog if your talent lies in writing, Wordpress is by far the most popular and easy to setup, however in both PPC and SEO finance is a highly competitive market, but that doesn't mean you cant be successful at it. If you are new to affiliate marketing and content creation then I would start with something a little easier with less competition, then work your way up. It seems you may be jumping in at the deep end so maybe start with a nice niche and see if you can corner a good chunk of that specific market, research the niche, research keywords/phrases, find out what people want to know and write about it, add an affiliate link or two along the way, do a little bit of SEO every now and then. You could start by simply writing reviews on products you have bought that you have been highly impressed with, or by participating on forums to find topics to discuss about a certain product line on your blog(s), add a link to your blog/site in the forum which will help with exposure and SEO, build that community at a slow and steady pace and eventually it will start to pay off.

    Good luck

    Hello!

I think the best thing is start slowly and move bit by bit not expecting too much too soon.

It helps if you start a website in an area you know about or have a hobby in. As for earnings technically the sky's the limit but of course there are plenty of limits like your technical ability, time available and the sector your in.

Personally I would shy away from finance, mobile phones, travel etc etc as competition is very high! Far better to concentrate on local themes or nieche areas where you can make your mark easily. Far better to be a shark in a small pond than a goldfish in the ocean!
