How to survive total disaster scenario Britain - yeah right...

I just had an email from a well known financial newsletter about how to protect yourself from the forthcoming financial disaster - repossessions, unemployment, inflation, riots in the streets etc. etc.

It just occurred to me how to do it.

Start a subscription service to your own newsletter showing people how to protect themselves from the forthcoming financial disaster ;-)

Must be losing some marbles - its taken me years to figure that one out.

LOL. There will always be Del Boys trying to make money out of every economic condition

It's amazing how many so-called financial gurus were predicting the boom would go on forever and, as recently as a few months ago, their publications were continuing to encourage people to spend other people's money (i.e. take out a debt) to buy second homes, holidays and unnecessary material items even though they were already drowning in debt.

It's too late to start preparing now, as the newsletter you mention suggests. The smart people were preparing for an economic downturn years ago. Indeed, some wise entrepreneurs were savvy enough to predict the disaster Britain was staring in the face and plan what they could do to benefit from it; a friend of mine (from a working class background) made millions in the early 1990s recession, retired at the age of 32 and last year he started another venture to capitalise on this downturn - not because he needs the money, but because he says he's bored of waking up and having nothing much to do.

Still, for those who weren't prepared and thought Britain would be the only economy in history to enjoy an endless economic boom, there are ways to cushion the blow and that's why every publication seems to be having a money saving article; we've even published one ourselves.

Which sectors in affiliate marketing do people think will do particularly well in the economic downturn?

Switcher style sites.. our switcher sites are currently doing more business as people look to save a few quid a month on utilities.

Rope shops....

Agree with channel5, folks switching utilities suppliers. That's where many people continue to get their hats nailed to their heads by providers - at least folks can make a bit of a saving, unlike council tax etc. I'm not sure people will stop buying non-essentials en masse, but perhaps the Argos crew will be looking at Wilkinsons instead. The John Lewis posse won't care much I don't think.
(completely un-stereotypical observations of course).
