Help needed adding affiliate links to my site

As a novice I am creating a new site that will contain some tradedoubler etc links.
Can anyone advise the best way to add these links to my site to prevent being penalised by google, yahoo and msn in natural search results, do I need to mask them, hide them or just have them as normal.
Any help appreciated.

I expect someone else will reply with a more detailed reply but from my experience, ive not been penalised at all for affiliate links

One of my main sites has about 30-40 on the front page and no negativity seen at all but better to mask than not, but for now just get your site started

I agree, if you have sufficient other content (not copied from the merchant site) then affiliate links don't seem to matter.

If you have nothing else but affiliate links and copied content then you will have a problem.

As an aside: One thing I've always wondered with regard to masking affiliate links is - does Google not just assume you are trying to hide something?

As long as your not making a page entirely made up of TD ads then I guess you'r OK.
