When creating a discount site you can import alot of merchant data or use spreadsheets to generate data quickly for meta tags, others may skim data from a merchants site. However, this is only the start as you will have a daily routine to find and add more interesting offers. By their very nature they have a short shelf life.
You definitely have to work hard, and not just 8 hours/day 5 days a week - well not in my experience as a full time affiliate for more than 8 years.
What I am trying to pull from this thread is that irrespective of what one may think about the MVC business model for the end user and us (fellow affiliates), the guy has been VERY good at promoting his website.

You'd be surprised - I do!
Granted I haven't got a large amount of content on my site, but I still 'put the hours in' as it were.
Course you can sign up to our system and get all the codes

So a content site got someone almost to buy and then they went to google got the code and you dropped the cookie.
Cookie stuffing??????

It goes back to "what is the purpose of affiliate marketing"?
Delivering incremental sales for merchants or affiliates maximising their income by any means possible?
For me we should never loose site of the first version. Wether you or I maximise our income plays second fiddle to the merchant increasing sales volume by the most cost-effective means possible?
If affiliates take pish then merchants will just rely on SEO, PPC and run campaigns internally. That's why I feel its imperative that affiliates understand that affiliate marketing is just one possible customer acquisition route open to them.
Merchants can live without affiliate marketing - can you?
Do you have products for review on my chocolate reviews or Easter eggs blog?s PM me.
Was this aimed at me?
Most certainly not, i know for a fact that many users visit my site, use the codes and never click through my links so there is no dropped cookie on my part.
Its probably likely that another voucher code site that they found previously that forced a click and dropped a cookie without offering a valid code....![]()
If you are feeling guilty, then it is

I'm not going to name names here as I've just emailed them and hope we can resolve this quickly and amicably but I've just had to email one of the allegedly good discount code owners here about a code they have on one of their sites that is 18 months out of date!
Having just been threatened with Trading Standards because the customer didn't get their (non-existent) discount, I'm not very happy.
We don't actually allow discount code sites to sign up to our scheme but many sign up under different web sites.
and its just not affiliates that are narked by MyVoucherCodes!

I was me. I honestly have no idea whether the site was on there when I bought it or I joined the program before code sites were excluded or I never noticed the exclusion (AF auto-approves affiliates so that's possible) or I joined to add the program to our other non-code sites or whether I added the code or not or someone else did it, etc, etc.
I'm not making excuses just admitting I'm human and I make mistakes but I'm also prepared to try and put things right. As John says I removed the site straight away and will remove any merchants that want to be removed on request.
Our site T&Cs of use make it clear the visitor is responsible for checking the validity of any codes and their eligibility to use them on the merchant site but I'm happy to send your customer (or you so you to credit them) a payment to make up for your/their loss.
It's certainly a minefield running a code site ATM and all I can say is I strive to adhere to all merchant T&Cs and when we make mistakes we will put them right ASAP.
