224am Monday morning, surfing the internet before getting up the baby for her night time feed and then heading to bed. I notice whilst reading the news on the Times website another annoying pop up, will you please help us. Tell us how we are doing etc etc.
Now correct me if I
am wrong but annoying your visitors with these annoying pop up is going to make 90% of people do what I do and click them right off.
It got me thinking, are these companies wasting money or do people really sit their for the so called ten minutes answering questions about the site etc.
Some do offer an incentive of a prize draw, many don't. So why do companies leave it to a piece of software to find out how their website is doing. Surely if it was designed correctly in the first place then you kind of know people are going to be fairly happy with it.
Especially if you have an overall EPC for your site, you know if a new design for example is working...
I know feedback is important, we all love it and we don't all give it, I know some of the sites I have seen on here by other affiliates are excellent but surely annoying visitors is not the right way about it, after all, if they feel your site is lacking something, they ain't going to spend 10 more minutes ticking boxes for you are they...
So my question is, why annoy someone who is reading your site and enjoying the contents with a survey for which if you did attempt to complete it, would take so long you probably end up getting so bored that you are not going to give real answers.
Shouldn't these surveys be aimed strictly at people who have joined mailing lists or become members etc? Or even people who arrive and leave your site in the first 10 seconds?
Or even better, a small link on the site under contact us. I mean, all I want to do when I
am not working is do some reading, I sure as hell dont want to help people with their websites...
I know from friends etc that they hate these annoying things too. Have you carried out one of these surveys?
Am I the only one that get's fed up and annoyed of them? Surely the only winner is the company who run these and manage to sell them to website owners who believe that people really are going to answer their survey, even though they have been asked hundreds of times before this month....
Rant over, night!
