  AdWords Stopped Overnight!

I work up this morning to find that Google has upped the minimum bid on all my keywords to £5.00!

I was bidding 15p before and getting CTRs of about 7.78% which a quality score of 'great' so why have they upped it by so much???

They haven't just done it to one ad group they've done it to the lot

I've been using AdWords for years and I've never seen anything like this - I'm totally stumped!

Hellloooo,

Where are you sending traffic to? If you let me look at the page I might be able to offer a small insight.

Drop me a PM if you don't want to post publicly. I'll help if I can

  Re: AdWords Stopped Overnight!

You will find it is related to keywords.
eg if your ad says "buy a goat today" but your keyword is "discount chickens"
Google will price your ad out of the market.

They are aimed at stopping one advertiser chasing another customers leads.
so in another example -
"jeep cars going cheap" - jeep.com will work for keyword "jeep"
but
"keyword "jeep" to an ad - "buy a ford today" -ford.com will get hyper priced. You are trying to steal traffic from jeep.

setup new campaigns with ads and keywords that relate.

The quote above is the reason it happens in most cases. In my own case i was promoting a merchant using all sort of keywords to maximize my clicks and because the landing page is one sort i will call see paris and die. 1 out of 10 visits will definately converts and it does converts. i use to call them keywords generalise keywords. Those keywords are very useful when the required keywords are expensive due to competition or having low search vol. The trick is, i made sure the CPC is as low as possible. In the end CTR was great but keywords were totally unrelated. Despite a good CTR rate google told me to pay almost £1million per keyword just a couple of hours later (hope u know what i mean). Thats what makes the word rotate.. I suppose thats what happened in your own case too, without seeing ur landing page. The tricks still works perfectly with MSN but google is smarthaholic

For example using the keyword [obama] to promote that prog that pays 0.49pence/lead. Say it aloud if u know it.
