can the voucher code sites stoop any lower??
i can see now why i have never bothered with the uk affiliate industry, its terrible
Hi Elaine,
I have removed the listing from myretailcodes, we have had previous communication regarding myvouchercodes and I stated I would continue to promote your special offers, deals, delivery offers.
I asked you if you can provide a list of your special offers on a regular basis that we can seo optimise for and list within our busy portal, we are not just about discount codes, but promote successfully sales, deals, bargains, freebies, special offers etc
Please get in touch again at mark at myvouchercodes.co.uk

You can hardly blame people for exploiting you if you persist in having a voucher code box in your checkout?
Sorry, why? We have some private vouchers and have occasional vouchers for existing customers. We do not have public vouchers.
The bottom line is it's our business and it's our affiliate scheme. If we don't want people to promote us on voucher code sites that is our choice. Having an affiliate scheme doesn't mean affiliates can do what they want.
MarkCo - I really don't understand your logic. As for emailing you, I have sent you more emails that have gone unanswered than I could count. The simple fact is I have asked you to stop listing us on your voucher code site and you are refusing to do so. It's true you are no longer using affiliate links, which makes your refusal to remove us even more pathetic. You are doing simply because you don't like the fact I asked you to remove it and you are acting in a very unprofessional manner.
I have posted about this before but for the benefit those who do not know how MarkCo operates his business, you may find this interesting (anyone else please skip over it)
In February 2007 both AF and I asked him to stop putting our site in Iframes. Eventually in March 2007 he stopped.
I then asked him to remove us from his site completely because we do not have voucher codes and I believe putting us on his voucher code site with a click to reveal was misleading to our customers. He didn't do so.
I contacted him again in November 2007 and asked him again to remove us from his site. He replied by saying he would remove the affiliate link but he would still link to us He told me "We have posted the following message so our many regular website users understand the situation and the reason why we no longer recommend shopping with youselves."
He changed the listing to "NOTE: Due to Retailer Request, We Can Not List Offers and Deals for Alcohol Free Shop (our advice is to maybe shop elsewhere!)
We are sorry, Alcohol Free Shop have contacted us and asked us to not list any special offer, deals or discounts that we find for them here. We recommend you shop around as you may find similar products WITH discounts or special offers at other stores"
I responded by asking him to take down the comment as it was misleading. We do not have voucher codes, so there are none for him to publish. His comment made it sound like we were stopping him publishing something that existed.
I asked him to take it down and his reply was quite stunning and quite revealing.
"The simple option would be that we either keep your affiliate link up and
you work with us to highlight your special offers to our users (even if this
is free delivery, money off specific items etc) or as you have done ask us
to remove your affiliate link. If the later, we will inform and advise our
600,000 monthly users that we no longer recommend you."
I think there is a word for that sort of comment, I'll leave it to you to decide what it might be.
After several days of emails back and forth, Mark decided it was in his best interest to take that text down but he replaced it with what is there now.
The simple fact is I do not want him listing us at all. He doesn't use our affiliate scheme so there is no benefit to him listing us, yet he persist in linking to us and refuses to remove the listing for no good reason - which in my view is nothing short of unprofessional and quite honestly childish.
I actually tried promoting your business at one point but after doing a trial purchase I soon realised that it was futile. I appreciate your sentiment, you should be able to offer your customers some promotional incentives but the way you are doing it is detrimental overall.
To the average punter your 'insert voucher code' box might as well be a a hyper-link to your mate above and his colleagues?
I'm betting the Affiliate Future 'Spin-Doctor' steers clear of this debate also![]()
