Couldnt really help without knowing the URL
One of my sites which does make me quite a bit of money has disappeared off the face of google ! It was originally #2 for quite a big volume term, but now it doesnt even appear if i type domain.co.uk into google !
Recent changes to the site only are changing the title of the site and having a link from a reputable site that ranks all over the place for good terms and is old and established.
Any ideas![]()
Couldnt really help without knowing the URL
Any hints in G Webmaster? Or any dodgy links in stats?
Max, give me a pm with the url if you don't mind and i'll take a look.
Without knowing the URL I can only guess but I'm willing to put my mortgage (if i had one) on the fact you've changed the title of the home page.
This can have a drastic effect on your SERPS. Just wait a few days, if you have strong backlinks then it should return.
had a look through webmaster tools no errors.
Will give it a week or so, and if not will see what I can do
have you masked all your affilate links?
is this for google uk results or google searching "the web"?
From my small amount of experience, one thing I learnt was that a website I had which was on page 2 on Google suddenly dropped to page 11 just because I changed one word on my homepage title. The irony was I thought it would help. When I put it back to what it was I got to number 1 again for my main keyword. Therefore I think this has probably happened to yours too. Don't worry though as others have said. Perhaps just wait and see what happens. If things don't improve try and put it all back to exactly how it was. Good luck!
Changing the title is probably the cause, not something anyone should do lightly.
Give it a few days and if it doesn't pop up again try changing it back.

I'd be surprised if only changing the title would have such a devastating effect - might make it drop a tad, but SEO aint that easy .....
maybe Google simply didn't find that page on the last crawl - happened to me a few times with different pages when GG's come-a-calling just as I'm uploading a few changes, or maybe you've inadvertantly asked GG not to index it - included a noindex, nofollow tag (yep I've done that:blush) or something similar with .htaccess or robots.txt
there's also an over optimisation penalty, which looks at internal linkings and percieved keyword stuffing, especially if you have several pages all on a similar theme - which results in a page being obliterated for a particular keyword, but can still rank for alternative keywords and that one's a bummer to try and correct.
