Now don't all laugh at once - it's not a brilliant attempt (and is pretty well useless as an application) but I've been meaning to have a go for a little while and over the last 1 and a half days i've been having a little play with the (very basic) parts of the facebook api (and yes it's taken 1 and a half days just to get the application to do this)

    http://apps.new.facebook.com/smoolahstudentoffers/

Basically on the application page (canvas page in facebook speak) it grabs 15 random offers from my websites database (all of which are featured) and displays them and displays information on how to add the profile box onto the users profile (could use a button but it won't generate a preview for the wide boxes (at least when I try))

On the profile box it basically has a listing of the currently most popular offers on the website based on clicks.

It needs to have some kind of automation to update the profile boxes to make it actually useful but that can wait for another day.

    :tup

I've been developing a my first Facebook application over the week as well. Just in case anyone else thinking of doing it I woudn't bother. The API is missing functions, the documentation is rubbish and the only way to get any where is try, try and try again until you get it to work.

    Absolute nightmare.

Totally agree about the documentation, the only way I figured out how to get the basics working was by looking into the PHP client source files provided by facebook, a few tutorials and a huge amount of trial and error.

But it does make you feel good when something does finally work
