Hi Guys,
my first forum thread ... So i hope i got everything right. I just wanted to let you know that i put together this site:
Top 100 Voucher Code Sites
I also blogged about it here...

If you would like me to add your site to the list, either send me a PM, or use the "add url" button on the site.
Hope you guys find this useful...
Pete
Great idea - should have it's own domain really and it would become a useful tool for shoppers.
Other things that should be included in the rating:
1. Negative points if they employ the 'click to reveal' technique to drop cookies - annoying to shoppers too.
2. Negative points for the number of expired discounts on the site.

Great idea! - Just added my url via your site.
As for the rating system, you could also consider...
1. Number of clicks to get to a code/store profile
2. Number of stores held
3. Site Design

Hi Guys,
thanks for the positive responses
I did consider the site having its own domain name, and maybe i will switch over if people actually find it useful.
With regards to the voting criteria. As i mentioned in my blog post, i am really not technical, so didnt make any changes to the origional script. I see your points, but i just dont have the time to figure something out... (if someone wants to pm me with ideas, feel free)
One last point... just seen 10 new domains in the admin to add. Please only use your domain name for the anchor text (not voucher codes|discount codes|promo codes etc.. as this doesnt really help the site)... Otherwise i will have to edit them all myself.
thanks guys!
good idea but really a waste of time as you can see from the votes already that the only people that are interested in voting are the voucher code site owners so the voting is as i would expect
Hi,
i did expect most sites to recieve a 1 star, unless the person voting owens the site, in which case it will get 5 stars!
However, i still think (hope) that the list will be a useful resource for people...
How about a simple "thumbs up/thumbs down" counter for each site, instead of a 5 star rating.
Or maybe, only allowing registered members to vote? - Handy for a possibly mail shot :-)
Then again, the beauty is in simplicity - I'd give the site a few weeks/months and I'm sure the natural cream will rise to the top, and the vote hackers will soon get bored.

Otherthan vanity for the site owner, I don't get it.
Hi Gadget,
thanks for your comment.
As far as i am aware, there is no current (at least public) database or list of voucher code sites anywhere. So it might be useful for affiliate managers, or networks as a resource. Also, it might be useful for affiliates to see just how many code sites are already out there, before they take on the large task of adding another.
Of course, i'm just speculating. If it turns out that the site doenst help anyone, then no harm has been done.
Wow that's a lot of sites. Gonna be fun trying to crack that market![]()

Nice work Peter :tup
It *might* also be useful to see when the site was launched (or domain registered) as that would also be a useful benchmark tool - thinking in terms of how much weight Google places on sites what have been around a while.
Personally I'll be using it to check out what the competition is doing :sneaky![]()
Not 100% sure on it... but think there's something there that needs a bit of polish.
You have MVC way down for example, yet it's Alexa rank is 10,199
You have our subdomain in and that may not rank/rate as well as a full domain
Technorati is based on tags - yet some sites (non blog based?) won't use them and therefore won't feature and won't rank.
So you need (imo) some different formula.
The star rating system is going to be a nonsense though - unless you publish IP addresses of those who have voted against the site's they own!

Hi Jason,
I appreciate the tips.
good point with the Technorati. It was something i toyed with... but have taken it off now. (although for some reason the rankings havnt changed) If anyone is techy and wants to help me out with it, please give me a shout!
At the moment, myvouchercodes seems to be showing a page rank 0, which is certainly not the case. (Hence its drop in the rankings). I will try and get this fixed...
I think sorting the table by alexa ranking (still rough) probably gives the best indication of the largest traffic sites.
Overall i will keep trying to tweak to try and make it a valuable resource for people.
Peter
short update: thanks to everyone who has added their site. They should all be in there now. And there are currently 101 voucher code sites listed!
Also, i managed to manually fix the Page Rank section. So all i need to do now is fix the overall ranking of the site and we will be back in business... (i am pretty sure without the technorati the list should be in a slightly different order=.
Short update:
Managed to clear out the old Technorati rankings from the database which seems to have produced a much more accurate list of the Top 100 Voucher Sites. Phew... (was driving me mad!)
Thanks again to everyone who keeps adding their site. I will try to keep getting them added ASAP. We are up to 109, which just shows how many sites there are out there!
On the ratings issue. I can't really see a way around it. I think i will leave them in, and maybe they will become more realistic over time... If not i will review in a month or 2.
And finally... Thanks to the people who have contacted me privately. The feedback is very welcome.
