I have launched two new sites last week and they are still not in the index either - which I thought was a bit unusual too.

I have a new site that is being crawled by the Googlebot but not being indexed.
Maybe I am being impatient but every other site I have started has been indexed quicker than this one. The googlebot last called on the 19th Sept.
The site appears on an info: search and a cache: search on Google but not the index. Webmaster tools is not showing any problems with the site. I tested the robots.txt file and it is not blocking any pages. Google download the sitemap every day or so and found no problems.
I even put some backlinks to the site from 2 busy sites and they appeared in the index for a day or so and then disappeared.
The site has 20 pages of original content (and going up each day).
Maybe I am being impatient but I feel like the site has being penalised for something (the backlinks?).
Can anybody with more experience than me offer some tips?

Google has been very funny this month.
It'd often update internal pages for content very frequently but homepages have been extremely slow to update.
That's not only across my blogs but client sites too. There does, however, seem to be some movement in the last couple of days.
Anyone else seen some unusual behavior?
Barry, Tony - what type of sites were they? And are they in highly competitive industries?
Do you have products for review on my chocolate reviews or Easter eggs blog?s PM me.
Do you have a sitemap?
Is it added with google webmaste - http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ ?
Does your robots block your pages and how does the spider see your pages - use a tool like Search Engine Spider Simulator to check.
Login to Google Webmaster and see if you have any messages, often if you get a slap you get a message saying so.
Are your links no-follow? Use a tool like Link Diagnosis - examine your link competition to see how many of them are 'good links' no follow are only worth having if the visitor will see them and click, it wont help for SEO.
Have you added a digg? http://digg.com/ This is a great way to help the spiders find you.
Sometimes sadly it can take some time for your listing to show, have you looked at the other engines?
For example Live(msn) is much quicker. Use their webmaster tool, http://webmaster.live.com/, and work on them for a bit, before you know it Google will be your friend.

One of the sites i launched hasn't indexed correctly either, took nealy a week for the homepage and inner, content pages haven't been indexed.
Even with some strong links from sites...
I agree with one of the comments above, i think google is acting a little strange this month, as i use the same technique for all of my sites, to get them indexed. And they normally take 3 days for a thorough index, at most.

I launched LG KS360 - KS 360 Etna last week and its only just got a cache image today. However it still not in the 'index' when searching. It is a highly competitive term (and it doesnt really matter cos its gone straight out of stock!!) and its only a one page site. But I normally get things indexed in google really quick. Googlebot has been visiting but its not reflecting it in the index very quickly.

I launched footskifootballgifts in August and google visited once. If you put in the sites full name in google with the .com the site is not even listed 1st in the search for its own name!!!. I see several directories I have listed in at the top. The site shows up when you search the whole web but when you do UK only its not there at all.
Any ideas???
You are listed, do a search using "site:footskifootballgifts.com".
I would sugest tidying up the Url's
Thanks for the replies, guys. So it seems that google is acting funny lately? Maybe they are changing something again?
Lee - the site is a wordpress site in the retail industry.
henry01 - I checked the robots file with google's own tool in webmaster tools and it wasn't blocking any of the pages in the sitemap.
The back links to the site were not no follow and they did appear in the google index for a day and then they disappeared again!
Yes, I tried Live (MSN) and got indexed straight away!
I guess googlebot is having a slow month.
The wait is painful! Good luck
