I just blogged about this, but wanted to get some feedback from the A4U community. Yesterday I signed up for Facebook Advertising. As a company (where multiple people will login to manage the campaigns) I couldn't use my personal Facebook account as that would mean my partners could access my profile. I therefore signed up with a generic profile name (think XL Team) and successfully set up a campaign which went live. However, later on Facebook suspended the account because of the fact we hadn't set a 'real' FB profile.

FB support told us that even for Facebook Ads (we're not interested in a profile!) we would have to link it to a personal profile. I'm still waiting for a further reply from support, but really if they want to make things easy we should have the option of opening an advertiser account without the need to make it a FB profile.

I think you are missing a trick there mate. I would suggest you do set up a profile. Set it up as a brand and network accordingly. I personally think FB is one of the best online advertising platforms I have ever seen. There is zero wastage if you target properly.

For example for one of my ads I am currently targeting women over 40 who work for a certain organisation. There are 147 of them bless their little cotton socks and I know my ad wont be appearing in front of anybody else. I for one think FB is spot on and how online advertising should be....

Yeah I do feel I must be missing something.

I have a personal FB profile which I've had for ages and want to keep separate from business.

I want to create a new profile (actually I don't, but I need to in order to use FB Ads) that I can have multiple people logging in to (I would simply give them the password). Therefore "Team XL" as a profile name would make more sense, but isn't allowed.

How can I do this? Do I just setup a 2nd profile in my real name and then use this for FB Ads and also for the branding stuff you mentioned? Are you allowed 2 profiles in the same name for the same person?

    Thanks in advance

Does anyone know of a information resource about this subject?

Their system is a bit strange but its all part of their work to stop spammers. |As well as not allowing organisation profiles apparently they ask you to send in a photocopy of ID if you've a suspicious name (e.g. same as celebrity or fictional character) and they have a board at their HQ with all the IDs of registered Michael Jacksons, Peter Pans etc.

Personally I think its a great idea and quite cost-efficient but the platform's a little clumsy. The new Engagement Ads (video content, comment-enabled, free gift content etc) roll out on the 1st Oct though and you can't book them through the Ads Manager app so it may be harder to stand out with your ads.
