We signed up with Royal Bank of Scotland - not sure of their current offer but we managed to get free banking for the first two years.

Will say Bank of scotland are good. But they called my account "Get Visable" instead of "Get Visible" - doh!

I'm about to open my business account with Abbey National, is they offer free business backing for life if the numbers of transactions is low (suitable for this industry)

bank of scotland is free banking for first year and free thereafter if you keep a certain amount in the account after that, but you need to look at what charges you'd have anyway - how do you use your account now?

PS "Get Visable". Now that is *very* funny, well to everyone
apart from Get Visible of course!

    Thanks guys

Any comments on the Internet banking side - how easy to use / features etc.

I've got an IF account which is great for managing online BTW and a Lloyds account which is terrible.

Nat west is ok if you are not in a rush... told me it would be 21-28 days to open an account, just got cheque book today..that's all nothing else... and I saw him on the 17th of last month !

mmm thinks they really want my business.. at that speed

got 1 years free banking (18months if u already bank with em) and internet accessable so spose it will be ok when it is all up and running..

mm 4 weeks to open an account... welcome to the second millenium... <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\">

    NONE!!!

Hide it all under your bed <img src=http://www.gamers-forums.com/smilies/contrib/ruinkai/biglaugha.gif ALT=":laugh">

I initially started with Barclays...but ended up leaving them because the business manager had no idea what I was doing and was about as much help as a soggy paper bag...

I then moved to LLoydsTSB....Bank manager has been a bit better but only because I managed to pinch his mobile number from the front desk, when the receptionist was trying to get hold of him. I felt like a proper spy leaning over and casually entering his mob number while pretending to be interested in something else....

I have tried a number of times to get hold of bank manager the "traditional" way with absolutely no luck, although he now answers his mobile first time

Internet side of things has been ok...except for the fact that the personal account and business account have same login and password.

I have thought about abbey and probably would move.....if I could be bothered to go through the aggro!!!

I use Nat West because I have my presonal account with them. I got the 18 months free banking and the account was open within 3 days (though cheque book and paying in book took a while longer to arrive). I really don't know why someone above had to wait 4 weeks though!

The credit/charge card is £25 per year -- make sure your first account transaction is a deposit of more than £25 or you will go overdrawn like I did!

What I like in particular is the online banking -- I can transfer money from my business account to my personal account, and set up a standing order to put money into my eSavings account each week.

I cannot comment on the bank charges -- they could be the lowest or highest in the industry, I simply don't know! I'm still in the free banking period!

HSBC internet banking is spot on. The only problem I had was the use of digital certificates for security. No problem unless your PC has a Windows meltdown like mine which meant a complete format of the HD and new install. Lost the certificate and now have to wait 4 weeks for another to be issued!

just thought I would share the farce that is nat west...

had appointment 5 weeks ago to open account.. guy tells me it would normally take 21 days but may take 28... ,

well anyway 5 weeks later..(monday) thru the door pops a cheque book..

Then Thursday I get an account letter.. due to some adverse data on your file (out of date crap from 5 and 6 years ago..one of em being a £16 readers digest default..arf..) we can't offer you online banking

So I ring up with a hulk like rage inside welling inside..

    call goes like..

ME: "hi I run a totally online related business so I absolutely must have online banking..your business gimp assured me I could have this.."

NAT WEST minion: "sorry sir there is nothing I can do"

ME: "Close the account now then"

NWM: "just one minute.... tick tock...yes sir you can bank online"

Today I got a paying in book but now find I must send of for even a cash card...

This bank is a joke... 5 weeks to open then I get services by installment.. what the feck is that about ?

anyone know a real bank that will open and send everything at one shot?..cos these jokers don't inspire confidence
