In House Vs Out of House

I was reading an interesting article in NMA last week. It was a feature on affiliate marketing and mentioned how some well known brands such as WHSmith and John Lewis had gone from an In house program to Out of House with either CJ or TD.

If (as an affiliate), you wanted to promote a product but you had the choice of either an In House Program or an Out Of House program to sign up through, which one would you choose?

If the In House program was offering you up to 40% commission and the Out Of House program was offering you up to 30% commission, would it make any difference?

* (This product is a web based product that doesn't have a recognisable brand, you don't know much about the company, but you can read encouraging testimonials from their customers and their partners by visiting the products web site).
