CPC by time of day

I've noticed whilst I was managing the internet marketing for a online recruitment site that jobseekers would review jobs during the day and then apply at night and I feel the same occurs with online "shoppers".

Depending on what they're looking for products V. entertainment I feel that many people gather data of which site to buy from during the day and then flex their credit card when they've had their grub in the evening.

There we have the problem: If they find the merchant's site via one of ours/your sites and then either email it to themselves at home or just remember the site then we won't get commission as the cookie will be on the work machine :eek:

So there are two issues:

Do you, like I, for B2C stuff have your CPC stuff paused during office hours and then let run?

And do you see the need for some, probably impossible, method of tracking introductions accross machines? Yep I realise that this is almost impossible if not totally so.

As an aside I know the term "office hours" is an anathama these days especially as here I am "working" at 6AM!

Give them an "email this to myself / a friend" link that will either return them to your page or to the merchant with your affiliate ID.

yep thought of that - in the design of the next site to test and then will add through to the other ones.

works for me - I think I may just have to rip off a send to a friend cgi - don't have the nouse to write one free - onless some kind fella (or lass) has one they could let me have?

there are a coupe of VAR names that include totaltelly dont edit these unless you know what you are doing

thanks for your help. I can mess around and reconfigure other people's code but starting from scratch is the recipie for disaster.

With doubleclick you can time adverts according to time of day. Sure Google are advanced to allow us to do this?

I know they may think that this would leave "barren" spells but I know that many would not bother with that feature.
