I hear a few mobile phone networks have trademarks on colours too!
I think Easy Jet have one too
Although don't quote me!!!
I am confused, I never knew you could TM a colour before.
... :colour magenta colour are all trademarks owned by Last Minute Network Limited and/or its group companies.

Think i saw a while back that Dyno Rod (the drain people!) have a trademark on that orange colour that is painted on all the Vans!
Thanks Lee
I assume they only apply to the category of business they are in. Wow can you image if Virgin trademarked red, no one will ever be able to use red again:scared
Just found this - BBC News | E-CYCLOPEDIA | Trademarks: Can you own a colour?
Thanks Lee
i know of
#A.P.Moller -danish conglomerate- having registered their color which is caller "maersk blue" (if i remember correct)
#Deutsche Telecom (T-mobile/home etc) which has registered their "magento" (? not quite sure how they call it) color
there are many others i know of that MIGHT have registered a color but i am not that sure in order to incl above (for example i am not sure about easy whether they have registered their orange color ) ... but yes it is possible to register a color

Yes you can - try flogging mobile phones under the colour 'orange' and see how far you get
Worth a trawl on the By mark text or image TM DB to see what is / isnt and in what class![]()
Eat more chips! Dont let salad win! I am robwho runs hey. !
Music.co.uk & Claims.co.uk both now live
I believe that there is such a thing as "Metallica Green", although I have no idea whether they have managed to trademark this. Knowing their M.O. I would say they've probably at least tried!
Apparently it's something to do with the colour of the smoke they use on stage when performing "One". But no matter how many times I perform "One" in my flat on Guitar Hero the smoke never appears![]()

You can trademark a particular colour.
I had a client who was a packaging company.
When there I was told you can trademark a PANTONE Color - a numeric system.
If someone already has the colour as a trademark - defined as a PANTONE color number- they just moved the numbers up by one digit to get around the problem. The shade then becomes slighly different.
The words Orange etc are a different matter.
And of course you also have the problem of "holding out" where the trademark colour owner may say its confusing people into believing you are them, but thats also a different matter.
Royal mail own a TM on the specific red used on their vans. I was once briefed on this by their lawyers. Their explanation was that other firms can use the colour as long as you don't use it in the same business sector.
I wonder if any white van courier drivers have tried this, instantly make all the competition go for a paintjob![]()
