Has My URL a previous owner

I registered aURL in the last month or two, I am wondering if it has a previous owner as I am getting a small amount of mail about it.
Is there somewhere I can find out?

I can find nothing in a search on google for old links to the domain.

Have you looked at:

www.archive.org/

It keeps old copies of sites and might have something there if there was previously a site with your URL.

Go to www.deleteddomains.com and then to "Power Search" and you can check see when it was last deleted. Won't tell you who owned it but can tell you if the domain name had an owner in the past. Only works for .com, .net and .org.
