No I didn't (ok I did), if a link is offering interesting or valuable content to my site visitors I will link to them without asking for a link exchange, if they want to then link back to me then fair enough.
Er, who are you addressing as Lee? <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\">
My name is Will - nice to meet you![]()
I find if you link to sites that you like and that are in the same or a related industry then they offer more meaningful content for your visitors. Sure, a few high PR links are nice, but if they're from totally unrelated websites they are of limited use.
Would this worK
if i was launching a new site and wanted to increase PR, i could ask for links from high PR sites and promise to return the favour (link) once my PR is established. Hence the supplier of the high PR site does not get the 0PR linking to them.
Obviously the main problem is still obtaining the links, however the theory should still work.
So if everyone on the forum with a pr above 4 link to
nochance.com![]()
cheers
Jamie
I always check:
1) Some level of relevance (but I allow lateral links e.g. travel to travel insurance, credit cards for travel, but not mortgages)
2) Always must have quality content. I never link to "Cornbrooks".
3) I steer clear of "Links Manager", as those links are very spammy.
4) Sure, I aim for the high PR sites, but there is no harm in being linked to from lower PR sites too.
5) I don't mind if a site is new, but if it is PR0, I certainly want to know why.
Surely this forum is a mine for link exchanging. Could we have a new area for this?
Other things you can use to check linking partners are stuff like www.archive.org and www.alexa.com
archive.org to see if the domain used to be owned by a spam/dodgy site (may be penalties)
alexa.com for an indication of traffic (though as we all know alexa is not that great)
