Top Banana has a valid point, what does merchants think of AM when reading :tdthreads like these?
Hopefully they'll think there are people who want to improve the industry. A bit of reality never hurt anyone.
You said a bit of "A bit of reality never hurt anyone." you sure about that? If you want reality i know lots of people I could grass-up, but do us affiliates want to broadcast issues in public? Would a polite email to the rule break be more suitable? Remember these thread will last forever.
These issues don't have to be aired on a public forum - as Edwyn has said, affilites can contact him directly as I'm sure others will. In an industry such as this, why would you want anything other than what is real and transparent - especially if folk want a long term future for their efforts? People can either lower standards to compete with dodgy tactics, or the offending sites can sort their acts out. I know which I'd prefer.
If you think a polite email from me to MVC would have got a misleading link taken off the site, then I'll await the pigs flypast with interest.![]()

So you are happy for me to post any rule breaking by any affiliate on this thread. Come on, as you said "why would you want anything other than what is real and transparent".
So let not limit this thread to voucher code rule breakers let get all the dark and grey secrets out in open, shall we?
Balls....merchants hate being robbed....so much so with discount codes that networks/merchants/even affiliates sat in on a meeting to stop it happening. They have lived with the other methods for years, but this is one they won't live with.
If it is not stopped large merchants will just pull out of the market and make all your sites useless.
On an ethics viewpoint, you should just ignore anyone being killed if it does not effect you.
From my personal viewpoint I would like the industry cleaned up and the best survive then. Shoot the rest of the crooks still leftNot saying I am perfect but I will try to fix things and make them what I believe are right and have some integrity.

Affiliate Window have appointed themselves the enforcers, so there's no need to grass here. Send them an email.

Yes but AW will be punished as some affiliates will just change the links to other networks and that is not fair to them.
This is simply something that effects me and my business and all I ask is for people to play by the guidelines. If no guidelines or rules then go to town guys and girls, even if I dont.

Wether or not I'm happy for you to post rule breaking is not the point. You've got your own convictions to think about.
If you think it will help the industry that you are part of to post rule breakers on here, then why would'nt you? What's the worst that can happen?
Spare a thought for who actually pays our wages - the merchants. How long do you think they will put up with this rubbish unless there are some huge changes?
All of the main networks have agreed to act as the enforcers (I'm not 100% certain whether Affiliate Future have signed up in the end, I'm sure James or someone from AF will clarify) - each network should by now have designated a point of contact for this purpose - emails from most of the networks should have been received by all affiliates in the lead up to Christmas.
As Doug says, these 'rules' were devised in consultation with affiliates, networks, agencies and merchants and full credit to all involved (and yes I was one of them) in finally getting some rules we could all agree on (and the final rules are not as strong as some wanted)
But there is only any point having rules if they are enforced and seen to be enforced.
If you don't like the rules then you should have taken time to attend the consultations or done as at least one person did and email one of those attending to circulate your point of view to the other attendees.
While I have reservations about a public witchhunt, at the same time, as has been demonstrated in this thread today, action has/will be taken and 'dubious' methods can be weeded out.
I'm 100% in agreement with Doug on this one, if the voucher code area is not cleaned up, a growing number of merchants will stop using them (and if they become disgruntled enough - kill their affiliate programme altogether) - then the whole industry loses out thanks to the actions of a few.
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.
If ignorance is bliss then some of the people I know must be orgasmic.

Doug you need to look at your own database of codes before you grass people up here.
Your DB is full of out of date (which haven't been marked expired), and thus illegal codes.
People in glass houses...
Next topic - 'Hover to reveal and set the cookie' - no words needed! Then it will be 'Enter the Comp and set the cookie'. Then 'Give me your email and set the cookie'. Once a leopard, always a leopard.
whole of my voucher site is breaking them atm, but the little traffic it gets means ive not got round to changing it
