Nowhere in the guidelines does it forsee affiliates back-stabbing each other on a public forum. If you really feel strongly enough about a specific affiliate report any contravention of the guidelines to the relevant network whose responsibility it is to police the guidelines.

There'a also a huge difference between websites which are not compliant and individual pages/items on websites which need updating.

Our website is compliant (and it has been since before the guidelines where first announced) and we have changed our database structure and admin backend so codes can be set up as deals, offers, freebies, etc.

New codes added will be set to auto-expire, where expiry dates are provided BUT with several thousand existing codes, deals and freebies in the database it's going to be a while before all the out of date content is weeded out.

And before anyone starts posting out of date content from our sites here I'd just like to point out to any network staff reading this that - as I have done for the last 8 years or so - we will promptly remove any out of date content on request.
I totally agree with your comment about the discomfort that this thread and others in the past produces.. I feel that it would be useful for someone technically minded to make a vote thread or whatever to find out whether members want to it to carry on in this format..

My own thoughts are that the thread is a witch hunt..I, like many others work on a code site and know that something that I may do, mistakenly, would quite definitely be pounced on by the witch hunters! I am in a fortunate position of working in a site where the owner and a lot of the members are watching over their interests, but how many of the sites on here are of one man band status?.. it's totally unfair...

We are talking here of people's livelihoods, it should therefore be up to the networks to be more aware of sites that may abuse the system, surely that's what the merchants pay them for..

    Disagree completely

MVC took the michael and play.com refused to do any more deals with them, if another 5 affiliates upset play.com then play.com will pull out of doing discount codes and offers to the large majority of code sites. They will still deal with the people they want to, but that will not be the majority of small affiliates.

If it is someones livelyhood then why try to upset the paople who pay the bills.

Accidents happen, fine but fix them.

Don't see how having something wrong, pointed out here, will negatively affect any persons livelihood.

Quite the opposite, if gives an early notification to become compliant before Networks/Merhchants stop dealing with you - which, of course, will affect revenue.

If you already plan to change the site then all you have to do is reply to that effect and everybody is happy

Just wanted tp make the point that ALL networks who have signed up to the new code are being proactive here. I think its important for the community to understand what a collective exercise this has been. If you report any non-compliance to the centrally supplied e-mail, this will be dealt with by the collective. Doug, although you make a good point about network link-switching we established the protocol of a shared e-mail to avoid this very issue.

This is exactly what I mean.. the witch hunt.. the words were IF if I made mistake then it would be jumped on.. the only mistake I can really make is to write on this forum.. it was a point of view...but when Dougs is around you are not allowed to have one! and before you get arrogant, abusive or whatever, I am a retired lady, the oldest on this forum, who doesn't have her hands than certain peoples trousers of which you have previously openly accused me on a forum.
Yes, accidents do happen, but unfortunately, the biggest one of all can't be fixed!
This is the main reason you don't deserve credibility to organise a thread like this.. you are quite definitely on a witch hunt...

Our aim is for all the networks to work together on this and so switching links won't really get around it.
    Edwyn,

Are you not then breeching the implied legal terms of Privacy and express terms of third party rights in doing this?

Ultimatley the merchants pay the bills, if you create a problem that they disagree with then you should be jumped on.

I have been talking to merchants and networks for months and they all are sick to death of this industry being abused. As someone who wants it to work I want you to fix your problems and quickly, I don't want people to create some token excuse, as many people have done for months.

Will you please disable my membership, I have better things to do with my retirement and then at least I don't have to take insults from Dougs and his crew..

    Hi,

I'd like to think most people would be able to read between the lines rather than implementing an absolute 'one strike and you're out' approach.

Edwyn (as with other networks) can be contacted privately should anyone feel they want to discuss T&Cs or check compliance away from the forum.

    Thanks,

Regarding myukdiscountcodes and the display on the Argos page, we currently show click to reveal all voucher codes because we have a valid code that expires tomorrow. Once this expires, then we will not show this button. We have approached a major network and been told that we are compliant. If we need to do any more work then we will. Our expired vouchers are clearly displayed in a different style.
Why not just get rid of them if they are expired? We do this on Travelpixel if an offer is past its expiry date it does not show - can you suggest a good reason why we should show expired offers and/or codes? Whats your experience?

    Dave,

I dont see the issue if they are advising the customer before clicking that the code has expired, it is then down to the customer if he wants to click or not. It is no different to archived news on forums etc.
