I have never really promoted Amazon before other than a few things last year.
What I dont seem to be able to wok out is if they have any sort of Click REF function available so I know what user has clicked a link or bought an item, anyone used a Click REF feature before on Amazon or are doing so now.
They don't have a clickref as such, however they do have Tracking ID's which you can add to your account and use. From your orders / sales reports you can then report on Tracking ID's to identify the source of the order / sale.
Yup, or over 100 copies of Take That's Circus album over the Christmas period ...when we only promote electronics, haha.
Anyway, yeah, Amazon's Tracking IDs are absolutely 100% crucial if you have any hope in tracking how profitable a website/ppc campaign is. If you don't know where your sales are coming from you can't make decisions about how to allocate your budget (when it comes to ppc anyway). We always set up individual tracking IDs for every website/ppc campaign we operate.
Sounds obvious but it amazes me how many people don't do this.
That's the interesting thing about Amazon, if you send them enough volume you get a pretty good idea of what the current top sellers are. You could even compile your own charts from that data. Makes you wonder if that cookie really is just a 24 hour cookie, I find it hard to believe it is sometimes.
