Is there a way to target misspellings through organic searching without looking stupid?

A domain I've just bought returns 2 different misspellings with 1600 and 1900 exact matches a month - and they are definitely typos not another commonly used name for example.

Competition is minimal but I don't want my site to be littered with spelling mistakes.

I'll definitely use PPC in this case but some free traffic would be good!

    Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks (fingers crossed I've made no spelling mistakes in this post - they don't do a smilie with a dunce's hat!)

you could write something in the text like:

    "common misspellings:- xxxx, xxx"

don't know how well it would work mind, google tends correct common typos these days

just for you as you requested it (sort of)

You might try at the top as <H4> ...

    "misspellingg"

    Did you mean mispelling?

And link the proper spelling to one page.

Saw this done on a pharmacueitcal site, where you know there are lots of misspellings.

You might take a step further and incorporate in your search feature.
    e.g.
there is no match for "word", Below are results from our inventory that sound similar to "word"...
Weopia virtual dating - works with any online dating site.

When you misspell a keyword on google it gives you

    ronnaldo - Google Search

"Did you mean: ronaldo Top 2 results shown"

Try a PPC ad with a headline that, alongside that will compliment it.

    E.g.

"Did you mean Ronaldo?" or "Looking for Ronaldo?"

Has worked well for me in the past, not for the keyword 'Ronaldo' though he often comes up with the goods...
