Hi. I'm looking for some advice on what to do next.

I have bought the domain www.historybooks.(my country code). (but in my language).
The phrase gets 30 000 monthly searches on Google.

But I'm not sure what to to next, and how to hopefully profit on the site.

I have been looking at the Amazon affiliate program and I have been thinking about setting up an Amazon shop on the webpage.

Does this sound like a good idea or would you recommend me going in another direction?

Check the competition; find out how likely you are to get a share of the pie (i.e. how niche is your niche); think about how you will market your website (ie drive traffic); check the merchants (amazon in this case) and see how good a fit their products are to your potential site.
At worst, just go for it, give it a few months, then a few months more if you're slowly getting somewhere then see how it goes.

If I can offer 1 pertinent tip, it is to think less and just do it!

If it is a good idea, continually develop it. If not scrap it and take your learnings elsewhere.

It's not going to be the most lucrative online sector, but it will make you some income if you develop it, and yes, Amazon Affiliate would be the way forward, but make sure you develop some pages targetted into niches. I guess with history there are plenty of niches to choose from!!
