Opinions please. Anybody tested what the best way to do datafeeds is?

So, when you list products, either by search or category, is it better to send them direct to the merchant or to the products detail page within your own site?

I think both could have their advantages. As I see I like the idea of going to product on my own site, but that is then making them have to click yet again to buy.

If you're going to offer them an on-site price match real; time, stock monitor, personal review of the product as well as your own sales pitch then yes keep them on your site a bit longer.

If you're qualifiying that they're ready to buy today, have their payment card details to hand and have all the other info they need to buy online ....

If they're not ready to buy today and need to do some comparing still then offer them that...?

I like to reel them in while they are hot, I usually go straight to the merchant to make the sale and move on. People are impulsive, if you give them a chance to think about it you have lost the sale

I have dealt with new & used car/van feeds for 10+years direct from dealers/stock aggregators. The initial result keeps user on the site, as long as the search results can deeplink vehicle onto the dealer(merchant) they can track enquiries from the publisher (affiliate). (Anyone have b2b/b2c clients looking for new/used cars/vans?)
