So did anyone see a massive upturn in sales today? It was meant to be the real start to the Christmas shopping boom!

I'll start the ball rolling, i saw a 35% increase in gross revenue ( so far!! - still 1hr and 19mins to go! ) against last Monday.

Fingers crossed there's a good 3 weeks of this peak period to come!!

Very poor day for me. Partly my own fault though. I decided to rebuild my product database last night and went to bed with the update running, but when I got up I found out it had crashed a few minutes after I left it

It takes a long time to build a full text index for a database of over 4 million products so it took nearly all day to get things back to normal.

But even accounting for the reduced number of products being shown on my sites sales are very disappointing, and the number of visitors on my shopping sites is around the same as it was last Monday.

Traffic up 35% on last Monday sales up about 25% on last Monday, not as good as Sunday.

I really really really really hate the words "Cyber Monday", it stinks of the same whiffy pong that brought us "Web 2.0".........grumble grumble

One of the City's leading analysts has warned that the retail sector could be facing the "worst Christmas for 25 years".

Analysts had been predicting an upbeat Christmas for retailers – with sales forecast to be 3pc higher than in 2003. But Richard Ratner, retail analyst at Seymour Pierce, is now warning of dire trading in the run-up to the crucial trading period, when many retailers make the majority of their profits.

Retailers could be heading for their worst Christmas in 25 years, but this may be be good news for consumers as stock is discounted

"We now believe that Christmas in 2006 will be worse than 2005 and could be as difficult as, or even softer than 2004, which was the worst Christmas for 23 years. If the latter is the case, it will make it the worst for 25 years," he wrote in a note to clients.

Seems like a mixed bag then!

Even if the run upto Christmas is poorer than expected, if online mirrors offline, we should see a pretty good fortnight after Christmas - the people i know in bricks and mortar retail tell me that the rush is getting later every year, with the January sale events being by far their busiest time.

Their analysis of this is more people wait for the reductions rather than paying double the price pre Christmas. I guess it makes sense.

Price That - couldn't agree more on the Cyber Monday terminology, wish for once they'd call it what it was being touted as " Really good Monday saleswise " for example!

Yesterday I had the most traffic ever across my sites, up by about 6% on my previous best day , however sales were the same as last monday and conversion was down about 20% on what I would expect . The upturn in traffic is good as spend and serp rankings are the same but I'm getting the impression that people still arent buying just yet. Still waiting for the sales explosion!

According to the Sunday Times Business section, Cyber Monday is gaining cache, but is predominantly concerned with window shopping as evinced by 1500 visitors, and very nearly zero sales!

Christmas sales began 17 days ago for me. I've seen a 500% upturn in commission and an even larger increase in sales turnover every day since November 11th. Fridays to Mondays do equally as well as each other.

Here at PucciPetwear.com we noticed a huge increase in Monday's orders. We share our building with an online film memorabilia website and they also had their biggest day of the year so something must have been in the air.
Designer pet accessories sell so well at Christmas, last year we saw sales rocket from November continuing well into March! If you have not checked out our affiliate programme there is still time to do so to take advantage of the easy selling opportunities over the season. We are now stocking our dog Santa outfits and a range of festive pet accessories which are guaranteed to have extremely high sell through rates.
    All the best,

68% up on last Monday, which was in itself a record, I don't mind if they call it Cyber Monday or any other silly name as long as the sales come in like this!
