I know there are phones (blackberry for one) that can connect to the internet wherever there is 3G (i think).
Hi I'm going to be doing a while lot more travelling this year..I was just wondering how people keep their affiliate empires going while they are sipping vodkas on a beach somewhere?
Before I could get by by finding a wireless hotspot somewhere and updating, checking emails etc...of course this is easier to do in the States, Australia etc..I'm hoping of travelling through Europe and then onto Asia...
Can anyone give me any recommendations as to what works best for them?
I've been looking at some Vodafone cards that supposedly let you connect anywhere in the world. Anyone got any advice?

If you have an In-House program lets talk business PM me
I just take my laptop, an international plug convertor, and stay at good hotels, which always have internet access.

3G cards are OK but not ideal..
Depends where you are going, on my travels a while ago, it was only a remote island on Fiji where I could not connect, Michael above is right all good hotels have decent internet access, often free. Even in non business orientated hotels, so you should be fine.
Make sure you can bypass your firewall if needed and don't forget your server logins incase you need to reboot etc.
Asia is pretty decent too, loads of internet cafe's etc, be careful if you use those however as most of them have dodgy applications and key stroke recorders installed!
Before setting out, I'd suggest having a good think about how much contact you really WANT to have with your business, and how much time you want to spend enjoying yourself.
Personally, I'd say a couple of hours per day when on the go is about right. Some people might well say that you should switch off completely, but I tend to find that this just leaves too many ideas churning around, and simple jobs undone, so I might extend my number of NCDs (no computer days) to 2-3 per week, but would never be comfortable with complete disconnect.
The round the world stuff is fun (Noumea awaits), but don't forget that all those train journeys to g2gs, quick weekends away in Dublin or Paris etc soon add up, so it is worth getting equipment that is adaptable for all of this.
I'd say the most important things for me are:
Bose headphones - an absolute must, and they are on TD. These can help to screen out most travel annoyances (screaming kids, Ryanair's incessant adverts, mobiles in quiet carraiges etc).
Wifi enabled Laptop - current one has a 13" screen, but I'm looking at an even smaller one, which can fit on a back-of-seat table.
Mobile - used to be an issue on some Caribbean islands, but most networks seem to have roaming sorted now (roaming charges & time differences still a good reason to keep it off though).
Small digital camera - especially anything in Canon Digital Ixus range.
A good mix of mp3s, music dvds & comedy. Always makes delays sail past much quicker, and tends to lead to annoyance when half way through a comedy episode, that 30 minute delay changes back to an ontime departure (happened last week).
As far as the balance between travelling on a budget and paying a bit more to get much better standards goes, I could carry on all evening on this one, but I'd always look for a more comfy seat flying East to West, and I certainly get my money's worth from a Priority Pass. Still, imho, the best value upgrade is the £10 extra on Virgin Trains at the weekends (when the train managers can be bothered to do their job, and only needed if 1st class not already de-classified).
A member on here called 'Eye of the tiger' does this, although I did send him a private message and he ignored itHe has travelled everywhere while running his business via laptop.
I'm currently in New Zealand, on a round the world trip for 12 months.
As others have mentioned, there are some pretty good wireless hotspots knocking about, and internet cafes are prolific and cheap in places like Thailand.
When I was on Koh Samui, there was even a local wireless service you could go and subscribe to. I was then able to sit on the beach and work, which was bloody brilliant (except the henna tattoo guys kept on trying to sell me dope!)
I tend to work on the basis of having 3 days a week set aside where I work really hard. I do a couple of hours at night every other day and spend the rest of the time touristing.
In Australia Telstra do a really good 3g data card plan, I'm getting one in 4 weeks time. It's relatively reasonable in price and gives you net access anywhere.
Thinking of going somewhere nice?

Hi mobillica,
I am relatively new to the affiliate arena and as such have little advice to give. However, last August I was in Hungary for a couple of weeks and was rather frustrated at my lack of organisation regarding the few affiliate accounts I had then.
As a result I came up with this (which incidently is not monetized in any way, it's just handy)
A simple enough Idea, that may come in useful for some people, especially when abroad.
I'd be interested to know what you think...?
Hope you have a great time... Don't forget youre toothbrush...
Affi
Useful site that Affil iate!
Funny you shoud say that.I have been very hungover in Hungary (Budapest) before!
I lived in the USA before for a year, but with that I was in one place for a long period of time...this is different as I will be on the move I guess.
Plus Im going with 3 other friends who are giving up work to travel.
My sites pretty much take care of themselves, so hopefully I wont have to spend hours every day sitting behind my screen while my friends down cocktails![]()
Aha... you have mastered the art my dear lady... sites that take care of themselves... (there's a slogan there somewhere).
Enjoy the cocktails and the good life...

I think you need Roboform http://www.roboform.com
One of the most useful programs I've ever used.
Thank goodness it is Ms S, had me worried for a minute.
Roboform saves you the bother of having a website to keep your logins on, it keeps all your links to login pages, your usernames and passwords, and logs you in automatically. It also fills forms for you, with your name and address, fills in all your credit card details, when you are paying online.
You can put it on a key drive and use strange machines, which could have keyloggers, because you don't have to type anything in, you just click on Affiliate whatever in your list and you are in your control panel in their site.
You have to use it for a while to realise just how good it is.
Give it a try, it is really, really good.
Regards
Bruce
Thanks Dude
