Looks like another Google price hike is on the way. At least the promise of added transparency should be a good thing.
Just got word that big G are going to be adding an extra column in Adwords over the next couple of days which will give you an idea of what you individual keyword quality score is.
It will be rated: 'Great', 'OK' and 'Poor'
Bring it on!

Hmm, that's what I thought too when my acc manager mentioned it today. (BTW, it's in the Google blog). I gather it will tell you, at keyword level, whether your quality score is 'Great', 'OK', or 'Poor', plus what the minimum bid is. If, by some chance, you didn't already know what a minimum bid of £10 meant, now you will. And the new tool won't tell you anything about why you smell bad.
None of that seems like anything you couldn't have deduced from the minimum bid with the old tools so I remain to be convinced of the value of the new one to affiliates.
LOL, got it in one.![]()
In fact my G* AM as much as told me that these days, if you're an affiliate, you better wear an industrial-strength deodorant. (I'm paraphrasing of course - but only a little)
lol for those that can't speak Google :
Great .. ebay
Ok .. merchants
Poor .. affiliates
and then for affiliates it will be broken down in to 3 sub cats lol :
Great .. 5 to 50p a click
OK .. £2.50 to £5 a click
Poor .. £5 to £60 a click

They have had this a while now only just making it public now though. As far as I am aware you have to have pretty rubbish site or just adsense to get the 'poor' rating.

I hate it when Google are changing things. Wish they would send a detailed email with everything explained a few weeks before.

"This score, correct me if I m wrong, will be determined by the keyword's CTC and its relevance."
The QS also takes into account the history of your Adwords account, so if you are mixing arbitrage with quality campaigns I would do a major rethink.
An interesting point Matt it never came across my mind that they would take your 'whole' account into consideration rather than just the particular ad/campaign.
I think Shane has hit the nail on the head though![]()

Right said Matt....It is not just your quality score - It takes into consideration the entire history of the keyword and (also) everyone else’s quality score. In other words, if there has been poor performance on the keyword by previous advertisers, this will affect you. Did I get it all wrong?
I m eager to know who get a "great" score![]()

I have great and a few ok and alot poor with a massive £5ppc what i think is a joke.
i have a good landing page for it as well.
Ah, you have to manually tell it to show the new column. I've got a mix up, but still the Poor ones with 5 pound bids seem totally random.
I'm wondering if the Great and OK ones are safe? or that just means that the evil twin of the google bot is yet to come and shut them down..
Has anyones best campaigns gone Inactive for search?
