An Orwellian Society, hmm, is that why they are the hot bed of acquisition rumours for those on the path to becoming the "Praetorians" of "The Net"?

Im kinda sticking with never the twain shall meet theory, face book is not about buying stuff there, most people I suspect are not in the mindset to buy, possibly as Kier hints at (Kier that's the shortest post u have ever made, expand please in essay format minimum 500 words, deadline today, lol x), people on facebook seem to be fairly surfer savvy, facebook seems to be used just to have fun, is buying online, a fun thing or do people buy for practical reasons?

Oh yes big brother is every where, any one see V for Vendetta?

Web 2.0 & Social Networking are no doubt the irrestible buzzwords, and as most of you say, a lot time consuming marketing tools. (If you intend using it that way!). I completely agree to your views however, we need to remind ourselves that with changing times, the business models would mature & the sophisticated customers are seeking online product reviews, virtual advice and what not before directly hitting an store (Offline) for purchase?
They have unbeliveably helped businesses, utilize their investments for R&D as against humongous marketing budgets. Don't you agree, its amazingly easy to get a lot of precise information from your fellow forum members & bloggers compared to what it was an year back......searching web & tons & tons of articles.

2.0 makes me want to cry. All the marketing folk who don't really understand about digital just drop 2.0 here and there and are obsessed with taking any client and putting them on MySpace, Facebook, etc. It is the worst buzz term ever and I can't stand it.

Social media has been knocking around forever and just because it has evolved everything has to be 2.0 this and that. I saw some business listed as 2.0 consultants. Give me strength.
