PPC, agencies vs affiliates vs inhouse

There's a great piece on page 15 of the NMA by Mark from R.O.Eye concerning changes in the PPC market that can be found here

Nice piece Mark cheers for flagging Kier - good to see a different approach in the "mainstream" press

I would like to start another thread on agencies employing ppc agencies whether it be an independent agency or affiliates, wherby the agency has directorship(s) in the affiliate (ppc agency) ... who might allow remaining affliates to be suffocated, as they can be intertwined.

Do we want another hoseasons?

Interesting article.

What I don't think it flags up enough, is how affiliates being good in the PPC arena has led to increasing hostility from some PPC agencies towards affiliates. They often seem to paint affiliates as cowboys.

You tend to find a lot of agencies charge a management fee as standard on top anyway depending on client spend levels so although BPF would be a loss especially to your larger spend agencies it would not be the end of the world for many (adapt to survive and all that).

Also Google are offering higher commissions if you take up Video, Local and Image options so its unlikely currently that BPF would be stopped, more likely they will raise the bar so a lot of SME agencies are pushed out, possibly

This article, although 2 years old now, represents to some extent the shift / evolution of marketing practices and affiliates, with their place in the market place. One thing in the article is certainly true, the 80/20 rule applies to affiliate earnings and programs.

Anyone seen a definition of a 'Super-Affiliate' ...possessing almost incomparable superhuman promoting ability and aptitude in sales and marketing?
