This is not something you should be raising in a public forum. The person concerned is justifiably able to sue you under the Defamation Act 1996.

If a person has in the past committed an offence, that conviction (if there was one) may be spent. A spent conviction does not preclude an individual from work in the sector where any offence occurred.

If you were never directly involved in the proceedings which either gave rise to the offence or were not privy to the legal activities contained, then what you have constitutes hearsay, regardless of the validity or accuracy of the statement and again you would be liable under the Act.

I would suggest if you have an issue regarding an employee of the network you take this up with the Directors of the network concerned, as they may be aware (disclosure) and have taken a corporate decision that they have no need to reject employment of an individual precisely because any conviction is spent.

Certainly this should not be discussed on a public forum.

What does everyone think of this?
I don’t see anything wrong in this. Is there any rule, which hinders an affiliate network from running an affiliate site? Merchants pay commission to affiliates according to the affiliate program. They have nothing to do with the ownership of an affiliate site.

Then you've either not read the entire thread or missed the point.

Re: An affiliate network is an affiliate

I believe that its fine for affiliate networks to run as an affiliate.

There are two issues here.

1) If the network is running as an affiliate within its own network, it better allows him to find out what kind of traffic is suited to the advertiser and after completing a test phase internally, they can give honest evaluation to their affiliates as to how the program will work with them.

2) It show a commitment to their advertiser. It shows that the network is willing to buy CPM in order to generate CPL/CPS for them

Furthermore, the whole backbone of affiliate networks is based on open communication between publishers and advertisers. I doubt very much if any network would encroach on the trust build with its affiliates. It would be very near sighted.

I think the next generation of affiliate network needs to take a much bigger role. They need to control the media on their network and this is a good direction for everyone.
