Could you have subsets of forums?
Awin -----> Discussion
-----------> Promos
buyat ----> Discussion
-----------> Promos
CJ -----> Discussion
-----------> Promos
Currently if you go through each network section of the forum, each is being dominated by promotions, commission news & new program news which is drowning out any discussion affiliates may have about the network or programs within the network.
Please note this is not to discourage networks / merchants / agencies to continue posting not at all! Please continue.
What the Poll is proposing is whether you would be interested or prefer network sections to be split into two distinct areas.
One where merchants, networks & agencies can post their program details & promotions .. and the other as in the aforementioned for proper affiliate discussion pertaining to network or individual programs. Thus preventing the forum from becoming a carbon copy of the email inbox.

sounds like a good idea to me!
Do you have products for review on my chocolate reviews or Easter eggs blog?s PM me.
I totally agree, discussions move so quickly now, you guys don't even get a chance to sticky them.
Obviously as a culprit of posting promotions we don't want to stop either - seems like this would please all

Totally agree - good move in my opinion.
Never argue with idiots. They just drag you down to their level and then beat you with their experience.
If ignorance is bliss then some of the people I know must be orgasmic.
I agree and simple to do with the software used.
From a network point of view we would be happy with this. We feel obliged to post promotions in order to make as many affiliates as possible aware of what we are doing, however we are aware that important discussions can often get lost in the mass of marketing we need to do.
To have a central resource for promotions would make sense as everyone would know where to go, while industry/campaign discussions would have more prominence.
However I still feel that most people who access the forum regularly click on the new posts tab to see what has happened since they were last on, therefore making this debate slightly redundant?

Yes, yes, yes - sick and tired of wading through irrelevant promotions, especially when they get posted in every sub-section going.
What about filtering through new posts too?
Rather than go through every sub-section, I sometimes use the New Posts header.
I completedly hear what you're saying about the reasons for splitting the forums.
My major concern is that A4U doesn't have too many sections and become too convoluted. There are several new networks which are going to be launching and having their own sections on A4U as well. One of the things I can't stand about ABestWeb is that there are dozens and dozens of forum sections... you can scroll down a few pages and still not see all the sections!

Matt,
ookay? ... I am one who doesn't click on just the lastest post tab ... as I like to re read or submit comments I wanted to leave until a later time. Guess I am pointlessIs it any more pointless than duping what maybe is received in our email inbox by having to trawl through promotion threads which at that point in time might not be of interest until later? So what your saying on that point doesn't make any sense at all.
I am not sure which networks advertise on the forum, but perhaps maybe those which have little or no activity should be merged, the collapse arrow button is also useful to save scrolling.

I am with Azam on this one. I hate forums that have way too many sections and are time consuming to navigate.
I get the feeling a4u is getting towards that stage. As a result, most people just post in the Affiliate Marketing Lounge now. Posting anywhere else will risk it not being seen.
Any chance of having less forums?
In theory I like this idea but whether or not the majority of program managers would adhere to posting etiquette is another thing. If it can be done then great, but I worry that this will result in even more dupes as the publicity whores will now post a single message a little something like this...
Example using a 3 network finance merchant
Affiliate Lounge
Finance Vertical Forum
Merchant Promotions & Incentives
Affiliate Network A - General
Affiliate Network A - Promotions
Affiliate Network B - General
Affiliate Network B - Promotions
Affiliate Network C - General
Affiliate Network C - Promotions
Perhaps it’s about time some form of “forum usage and etiquette” announcement is made to all forum members and that the Mods start to hand out temp suspensions to merchants/networks/agencies who do not adhere to it.
Cheers
Paul
A good idea I think. Maybe not such a good idea to have a poll that allows multiple choice![]()
