Ok.. I'll take a deep breath so this post doesnt come out as an angry blast of hot air..

    The problem
Ive joined two networks and an affiliate allerted me to this problem:

"I've been promoting you through AW for some weeks. I've just had a commission come through for the same amount and at exactly the same time on AW and also AF, so it looks like it's been duplicated as the person must have visited a while ago and has both cookies on their PC."

    Whats the Solution?
Is this something to do with cookies which means the following problem can happen as the following communication explained..

"This can occasionally happen through cross tracking cookies on a computer system that is being used by the user. I believe that what has happened is that a user has clicked on an AffiliateFuture link on a content site that did not make a purchase straight away. Potentially they have come away and decided that they now wished to proceed with the order. Rather than go back through the affiliate link they probably Googled you. This shows a sponsored link that is actually through Affiliate Window.

You may wish to get in contact with them as I notice that you do not allow brand name bidding via Google which this member would be in breach of. This also annoys the good quality content sites because they lose their commissions."

So if youve had to overcome a similar situation where youve being paying commision twice as a consequence of joing more than one network I'd love to hear from you.

    Thanks,
    David

    Hi David,

Drop me an email and i'll send you a guide of how to stop this happening with local cookies.

Basically your customer has been through 2 links one from af and one from Awin. The last cookie is the one that should stand (unless it's a brandname affiliate). Had the customer been through the 2 af links the last affiliate would have been paid.

We have some code in our guide that you can use to set the local cookies.
