    But you do use them nonetheless. As I say, this would make it easier for affiliates to produce low added value sites, but it would also free up time for others to add more value to existing good quality sites. In exactly the same way that product feeds do.

    my own view is that sites that offer a blend of:
    • useful information
    • unique content
    • personality
    • product search
    • discount codes
    • multimedia
    • user referals
    • customer newsletters
    • user interaction

    will be the ones that succeed into the future.

    Agreed pure play discount code / comparison will continue to be profitable, just that I think consumers expect more these days....

    I did consider what you're thinking ie using codes that don't appear to be exclusive then I decided against it. As soon as the site grows bigger I'll start requesting codes directly, I think that's what the "big guns" do; e.g Discount codes and special offers wanted (see comment 3 from Kieron)
