But would the UK want to be associated with or controlled by a US company?
no, haven't heard anything since then (and I've constantly had to chase them for my subscription - it's not being delivered, still, grrrrrrrrr). For me, it would make sense to expand, it doesn't bother me they're from the US, I actually think they can separate themselves from all the political nonsense we have over here and be objective, whereas most UK people have a hidden agenda.

    Further thoughts.

This forum is a hub of ideas to help the affiliate marketing community at large. Hence the reason I posted here and not on my blog or facebook. As was pointed out, you cant sit on the loo or a bus or on a plane and access the forum. It’s not about taking people away from the forum its actually about bringing new people into the forum, well that’s how I see it. The forum operates as a bubble and its reach is wide to be sure. But Im talking about those that don’t frequent here, those traditionalists that read the financial times, NMA, Revolution there is a whole other spectrum of people that don’t know about the forum. But this mag should not be about the forum in whole, in part…yeah of course and goes without saying.

One thing is evident, no affiliate association is going to pop up any time soon.
My thoughts were along the lines of a few affiliates putting a business plan together and financial forecast and go get investment, if the numbers stack up and turn this into a proper business. There are enough folks on here with a lot of connections to make this happen. There is revenue to be made and a target audience we have yet to tap into.

I love the SEO mag, but its US centric.
I like Revenuetoday (Over kill on the advertising impo) but it works but is too US centric. I love Webmasterworld radio, again… too US centric.
I love Frasers Blog and Im there all the time.. his podcasts are brilliant and I want the world to hear them. I just feel its time for the UK industry to saturate the airways, the magazine shelves and the web and what will come back we all win from.

The who the what the where and the when.. now that’s a whole other ball game of which I know very little about re publications, but already in this thread, we can see that some people already possess the knowledge.

I'm a magazine Junkie at the best of times and I'd love to see a magazine on affiliate marketing in the UK, even if it was quarterly I think it would bring a lot to the table.

I think this is a very interesting idea.
I have realy wanted something like this for a while after subscribing to a bunch of publications and only really reading a select selection of sections in those magazines.

I can see it working, though it may be worth starting small.

As for an online magazine - maybe to compliment, but I feel that a print magazine should be the focus.

I have set up a facebook group to discuss this further as I have a number of ideas for this.

The trade magazines do seem to do their job, and most big companies appear to want to get their adverrts in, but I have to say most i come across do not seem to get read, unless we want to put out a press release and looking for mags.

Being in engineering / pumps, I get such lovely titles as 'Wet news' (Water and Effluent Treatment News), the people who produce this I note, also produce Blinds and drapes monthly

Yes - I think there should be one, i'm also under the impression that one is being looked at at the moment (from some initial chats I had with someone at the recent CAP Euro), hopefully we'll see something come from that.

Personally there are only a few places I could see this coming from..

    1) Existem
    2) Revenue expanding to the UK
    3) The guys who do the CAP Magazine

I think if it got the write people writing and producing articles then there would be revenue to be made from it via direct sales and advertising.

One thing I do find is that I`m now getting a severe case of information overload! :-)

With the forum, numerous blogs, web sites etc that I read on a daily basis, its a lot of flicking round the net.

It would be great to have a magazine which kept a view on everything and gave edited highlights.

Ahhhh I see where you are going, like a summery of everything…
I have to say that the a4u summery email prompts me to come here, less Im snowed under.

I quite like profiles too in terms of actually getting to see the whole person rather then a title in a company. Example… Jon Jup who are you, what’s your background. When I meet up with industry people, Im always so surprised re their backgrounds, things you would never have thought they would do or did.
